Last summer we enjoyed Rochester Red Wing center fielder Jason Pridie’s presence in Coca Cola Park. With some help from our iPhones and Wikipedia we located some fun information that led to “We Want Popcorn!” chants. I’ll leave it up to you to search this on your own, but those of Noise Nation surely remember the Orville Reddenbacher special last year!
The Mets claimed Pridie off waivers from the Minnesota Twins and immediately made room for him on their 40 man roster by releasing Jack Egbert. Given the Mets injuries at the major league level we may not get to see Pridie back in CCP in 2010 but there is always that chance he joins Mike Cervenak with the Bison.
OINK!

Looks like no more sheep calls at Coca-Cola Park as mlbtraderumors.com is reporting that Mike Lamb has signed with the Marlins.
LOL That was funny. It’s too bad he is an infielder.. we could’ve had some fun with him.
Jason Pridie is on the December 2009 photo with Lou Marson in the current Ironpigs wall calendar.
Also, according to the Baseball America Transactions blog, J.J. Furmaniak signed a minor league contract with the Rays so he may show up at CCP when the Durham Bulls come to town. Was it mentioned before that Travis Blackley was signed by the Mets?
That BA blog also mentioned a few Phillies signings. Other than the Oscar Villarreal signing there doesn’t seem to be anything significant unless you like the name Zak U. Farkes. No, I didn’t make that up.
Does BA send update notice emails? I check several times a day and you always seem to catch it first! 🙂
Not as far as I know but that BA blog is usually updated just once every 7-10 days. The last one was 2/2/10 and this new one was 2/12/10. I usually check on a daily basis anyway. It’s a good place to find the minor transactions that seem to fly under the radar of other sources. Most of the other sites I keep on my twitter page so I get the daily updates. I keep expecting to see Terry Tiffee in there one of these weeks. As far as I know he’s still unsigned. I know many people weren’t impressed with Tiffee but I don’t think we saw him at his best in 2009. He won me over after a Sunday afternoon game when I hung around and saw him and Paul Hoover playing ball with their kids out in left field. It was fun to watch. I also liked the music they played when he came up to bat and I had an up close encounter one time and asked him what it was. He had no idea. And all this time I thought the players got to choose what song they played. Turns out it was New Divide by Linkin Park and came from the movie Transformers : Revenge of the Fallen.
