I went out to Coca Cola Park this afternoon to pick up my season tickets. What a beautiful day! The sun was shining and the temperature was close to 60 degrees. You could smell baseball in the air. The grass on the field is getting greener. Friendly smiles from a brand new bunch of interns. The new Aw Shucks corn stand, (yes they are adding a second booth this year), looks to be under construction. I took a moment to stand at the front gate and just gaze at the field. The tarp was off of the infield and I passed a few minutes trying to figure out if any of the outfield signs had changed.
The Ironpigs took season ticket holder appreciation a step further this year. For each season ticket ordered a fan received a nice pint glass and a coupon book with offers from local businesses. I am usually a skeptic of coupon books but this one has a coupon for one free beer at the Pig Pen.. so I can’t say anything but good things about this!
36 days Pig Fans… 36 days.

Cool. I heard about the corn stand already–also heard that they mowed the field the other day.
I also knew about the coupon book: when I was considering becoming an advertiser, it was one of the perks–that I could have a coupon in there for free. I decided against the advertising for now, but did like the coupon book idea. I’m glad to hear that it was well received!
I probably won’t get over there to pick up my tickets until next week–I sure hope I get pint glasses, though. I do prefer the printed tickets–makes it nicer to give them away if I can’t make it, and easier to trade them in if I miss a game and need additional on another day.
Halladay looking good again today. Werth homered. Bocock starting at 2B hitting 8th. Subs not in yet.
Update: I had a meeting this morning that was cancelled, and used the extra time to go pick up my tickets. Here’s some embelishments on Dan’s info above:
1. The ticket staff was right on the ball. My tickets were already printed and ready to go, so it took virtually no time at all. (last year they had to load the tickets into the printer and print them out–it took forever and some were printed poorly–all were printed with the wrong entrance info, which made it confusing for guests and newbie ticket takers, but I digress..)
2. The pint glasses are gorgeous! At first I didn’t see anyone leaving with one, so I was worried that it was a “first day” thing or they ran out…nope. Kudos and thanks to the IP!
3. New for 2010: club-level and front-row folks get special food on the first Monday of the month between the 4th and 7th innings in the club lounge. Interesting. Doesn’t say it’s free, though, and makes me wonder about the fate of the ‘Pig Stop.’
4. On one Friday, s/t holders will be invited to a batting-practice viewing party at the Bud Light Trough at 4:30. Free appetizers and soft drinks! Mingle with other ticket holders and staff! Tickets will be mailed near the end of March, which is when you find out which Friday you get.
5. Coupon book not as impressive as I’d hoped. Perhaps they can do better next year.
6. Bought two new hats in the store. Maybe the interface is just clunky, but it seems like they’ve got more stuff in there than they have on the web site. Cases and cases of new stuff were being delivered as I was checking out.
7. Printed promotional schedule received. I was hoping they’d add more stuff. It seems lighter than last year–many open dates where there’s no promotion. Perhaps they’ll continue to add to it. Not that *I* need it, but it might help fill the seats early in the season when the weather might be questionable and there’s room to grow. I do expect my kids to be fighting over the dates tonight, though!
I have to say I am also really impressed with the glasses. Very similiar to the golf glass for their Hackers and Homer tournament last summer.
Picked up my tickets today too but gave them back and had a card ordered instead. Surprised that I didn’t get the card like in the past but they had no problem taking care of it. Should be ready in a week which gives me an excuse, (like I need one), to go back to the ballpark. Liked the pint glass very much and look forward to the batting practice viewing party. Bought 2 All-Star T’s as well. 35 days and counting can’t wait.
I picked up my tickets on the 10th as well. I splurged this year and got 3 season tickets and a full season parking pass. Got the cards instead of the actual tickets. I thought the glasses were similar to the ones they gave away at several games in 2008. I know I have 2 with Conway’s BBQ on them. Did that place close? I know the one that used to be near the Brass Rail off Lehigh Street closed quite awhile ago but someone told me they thought the one in Kuhnsville closed also.
The one I’m looking forward to this year is the Allentown Cardinals throwback baseball cap giveaway.
