The Phillies have signed infielder Keoni DeRenne.
DeRenne has spent the past 3 seasons in an Independant league and last played affiliated ball for Boston’s AAA team and International League rival, Pawtucket. If DeRenne is slated to play for the Phillies organization in 2010 he could likely fill one of the middle infield vacancies for the Ironpigs.
The Phillies also released RHP Reginal Simon.
