Get ready Goonies fans! The Lakewood Blueclaws have added on to their promotion on July 29th. Not only is it Thirsty Thursday providing $1 beer and soda and 50 cent wings but this night the Blueclaws are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Goonies movie!
From the Blueclaw’s Facebook page:
“It is with great pride that we announce that Chunk (Jeff Cohen) from “The Goonies” will be at FirstEnergy Park July 29th for our 25th anniversary Goonies celebration (and will judge our Truffle Shuffle contest, sign autographs, and pose for pictures)!!!”
Not that Mr. Belding making an appearance in Reading this season wouldn’t be enough, but to have the chance to show off your Truffle Shuffle to the original Chunk? Incredible!
For those too young to remember here is a video:

I was going to say they should also bring in big John Matuszak for the Goonies anniversary but then I remembered he died a short time after the movie was made.
I vote that we have an Amish night at Coca-Cola Park in honor of the 25th anniversary of Witness. Ferrous would look good with a beard and no mustache. Or maybe a Back To The Future 25th anniversary. I wonder what Biff is doing these days?
If only MLB players could recognize the effects of using performing enhancing drugs as the NFL players of the 70’s and 80’s are now. So many dying before age 50.
An Amish night would be tough..especially a night game without electricity.. 🙂
Hey, I didn’t know where to post this so I’m just going to put it here. I stumbled upon a Clearwater Threshers blog that had a listing of the Phillies Minor League Workout Groups in Florida. There were 4 groups and it said Group 1 is theoretically the AAA/Ironpigs group. It does not include players on the 40 man roster or those minor leaguers who were invited to the major league training camp. Here are the names on the list:
Catchers: Tim Kennelly, Joel Naughton, John Purdom.
Infielders: Tagg Bozied, Eric Campbell, Melvin Dorta, Troy Hanzawa, Gabriel Martinez, Luis Maza, Brandon Pinckney, Patrick “Neil” Sellers, Brian Stavisky, Keoni DeRenne (I added him to the list).
Outfielders: Freddy Guzman, Kevin Mahar, Gus Milner, Mike Spidale, Steve Susdorf, Rich Thompson.
Pitchers: Jason Anderson, Joe Bisenius, Tyson Brummett, Nate Bump, Chance Chapman, Alex Concepcion, Brandon Duckworth, John Ennis, Edgar Garcia, Brian Gordon, Jason MacKintosh, Brian Mazone, Pat Overholt, Michael Schwimer, Jason Standridge, Jason “Jay” Stephens, Michael Stutes, Oscar Villarreal, Jake Woods, Vance Worley.
Good info!
Here’s a link to a list of all 4 groups:

Thanks for that, Decal. Looks great. Do you think that blog will have boxes for the games for the four groups? What are your thoughts about the relative success of the prospects currently in Phillies camp at this juncture, and how it may impact the IronPigs?
I guess you can add the following to that list since these guys were all reassigned to minor league camp today.
Pitchers:
Phillippe Aumont, Johan Flande, Scott Mathieson, Drew Naylor, J.C. Ramirez, Jesus Sanchez, Joe Savery, Bill White.
Catchers:
Tuffy Gosewisch, Kevin Nelson, John Suomi.
Infielders:
Freddy Galvis
Outfielders:
Quintin Berry, Tyson Gillies.
well, that tells us something right there. Thanks. You beat me to it.
The only one on this list I didn’t expect to see so soon is Mathieson. I wonder what the outlook on him might be..
According to what Todd Zolecki said about Scott Mathieson…..Ruben, Charlie and Rich Dubee all agree that Mathieson needs innings and needs to work on his secondary pitches and he’ll get that opportunity in the minors.
