The Pigs ended their longest homestand in grand fashion slamming out 18 hits for 12 runs to beat Pawtucket before heading to Scranton for a weekend 4 game series.
Bubba Bell in centerfield had a tough game for the Pawsox letting two easily stoppable balls past him and lost one fly ball in the lights. This helped Lehigh Valley get out to an early lead that they kept capitalizing on.
Good’s
Everybody hits! The Pigs had 5 batters with a multiple hit game tonight led by Maza’s 4-5 effort. The Pigs spread their runs out scoring in 4 different innings tacking on the last 6 runs in the 7th.
Pig’s pitching did well tonight to keep Pawtucket off balance. Jason Anderson was throwing to get outs and went right at the batters and Mike Zagurski gave up 1 unearned run.
Home Plate umpire Vic Carapazza had a much better game behind the plate tonight. His calls seemed a lot more consistant and balanced.
Not so good’s
Andy Tracy took a much needed day off and missed out on the hit parade tonight’s game turned into. We can only hope Andy breaks this slump soon but will be sad when Andy hits hit franchise leading 50th HR on the road.
Attendance tonight was 8,134

It would have been cool for Tracy to pop # 50 at the Park.
It would be even better for Tracy to smack a bunch of balls out of PNC Field so as to smash the arch-rival Yankees this weekend.
Because the IronPigs are by a country mile Pennsylvania’s # 1 AAA baseball club.
It is time the show the good citizenry of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre exactly who is boss.
There should be a Governor’s Cup or something for the Lehigh Valley – Scranton/Wilkes-Barre rivalry — as there is in AA for Reading and Altoona.
I wonder if there was any significance to Brad Lidge wearing #45?
–54 to 45 to turn around his luck?
–tip of the cap to Tug McGraw?
–#54 on the Ironpigs was taken?
