The Lehigh Valley has made a great effort and has come out in force to support the Ironpigs during the first homestand of the 2010 season.

While Lehigh Valley is clearly ahead in overall attendance, a few of the other teams are riding high opening day crowds to temporarily boost their average. Keep in mind that Coca Cola Park only holds 10,000 fans while some can hold over 15,000.

The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees are DEAD LAST in the International League with an average of 3,320 from eight home games so far.
That is a fairly large difference – almost 5,000 people per game – from the IronPigs total of 8,010 from their eight home games so far.
IronPigs are # 2 in 30-team AAA baseball.
Yankees are # 26!
Do we blame the big club for funnelling all their $ into the new Y.S. and having nothing left for the system?
The Philadelphia Philllies provide all players to the Rookie, A-, A, A+, AA and AAA teams in the organization and pay all the salaries, as well.
The IronPigs pay for their stadium lease and other operating costs.
So, in other words, if you are happy with players in the minor league system – thank the Phillies.
If you are not…thank the Phillies.
IronPigs have no control over on-field playing personnel.
