Game Notes 4/24/10 Pigs 3 – Scranton WB 6

Due to some technical difficulties I missed most of this game on the radio and my computer was acting up so this post will be a little lean. I did get to escape from baseball for the night and enjoy a good meal at Outback followed by Friday night grocery shopping. (With a week of away games, I can’t depend on stadium food for a little while)

There is a rumor about some high school games at CCP this week/weekend and if you have info on them please leave a comment with details.

Hopefully the Pigs will produce tomorrow and Sunday and the rain stays away.

OINK!

  2. I seem to recall hearing on TV2 Sports Scene that these games are the current incarnation of the Super 2 Challenge, since renamed the Don Hunt Memorial Challenge for the late TV2 manager and news anchor, who spearheaded the event.

Here’s a page at the Lehigh Valley Conference site about it:

They did this last year at the Park.

I believe it is $ 5 for a ticket, which is good for EVERY game on BOTH Saturday and Sunday.

I saw the mighty William Allen warriors last year.

Normally a big advocate of the General Admission program at the Park, I took the opportunity to sit right behind home plate about ten rows up.

I wondered whose IronPigs season-ticket seat I was in.

    • OK, I admit it… I am such a gwelb… I went there, entering just as Northampton/Dieruff were being introduced by Tim. There were plenty of other places to which I could have gone…

The ticket said Northampton, tho the scoreboard said Dieruff was the home team… both wore dark unies.

They wouldn’t let folks wander out to NN’s part of the world… anyhoo there was only one food stand open, the Home Plate Grill, and one set of restrooms, the one next to the Majestic store (not sure if it was open)

I heard several foul balls that went into the club level clang off the plexiglas suite doors…

All the batters had their names and numbers displayed on the big telscreen…nice of the team to do that. They did have one bit between innings, the Red Robin burger shell game… else the usual music and Pigs graphics played.

Northampton made it a laugher with 8 runs in the third… I left after the fourth.

No stadium food for how long?

Now THIS is a big story.

What will you and the Nation do?

This is sounds like a genuine national crisis.

Here is the only solution – plan ahead and buy extra stuff the Park when the IronPigs are here and then stockpile it at your houses for when the team is on the road.

Andy Tracy went 1 for 3 with an RBI and got his average back on the right side of the Mendoza Line last night.

I.L. teams still consistently seem to tread lightly and pitch around Tracy.

IronPigs need a solid # 5 to consistently make teams pay and defeat this nonsense once and for all.
