Tonight’s game has been rained out. It will be made up as part of a double header July 10th at PNC Field in Scranton. This is a Saturday so prime road trip date!
I was a little late on posting this. One of those rainy day, I hit the couch for a nap after work and spent the next 4 hours asleep. Will be nice to enjoy a new episode of my favorite show, “Chuck” tonight on NBC.
Just read a note that Phillies 1st Baseman Ryan Howard has just signed a 5 year extension worth $125 million. Possibly a reason Cliff Lee was sent packing with this deal in the making. Let’s see if anything comes around for Free Agent (at the end of this season) Jayson Werth who is playing the role quite well these days, hitting .333 as of today.
Former Ironpigs, Rodrigo Lopez pitched 6 innings and gave up 6 runs on ten hits against the Phillies yesterday. The Diamondback ended up taking the game 8 to 6.
Another former Ironpig, Kris Benson also went 6 innings on Friday against the Phillies, earning his first win of 2010. Benson allowed 8 hits and 3 runs.
It’s a statement to the quality of pitching the Ironpigs have had the past couple years that 2/5th of Diamondback’s starting rotation were on a Pig roster within the past two years.
Lou Marson continues to struggle for the Cleveland Indians batting .088 mustering only 3 hits this year in 34 at bats. He has to see Carlos Santana looming in the distance and unless he can go to the plate with a bat soon… he might not even be sent back to AAA.
Anyways, that’s all I got for tonight. Enjoy this evening with your family.

I didn’t know what to do with myself tonight. Maybe a nap WAS the way to go. I had purchased Reading tix for this evening as it was the Strasburg game. Actually, I was hoping to see Aumont too, but he pitched his gem last night. Anyway, I rushed home from work all set to get one kid ready for baseball practice and one kid ready for Reading in the rain, then to find that both are cancelled. OK, no matter, we’ll just stay ome and listen to the IronPigs game on the radi…oh…shoot.
So, dinner at the Japanese Steak House it was! Now to try to find a date to trade in my Reading tix. You know, that’s one of my “top 10” suggestions for the IronPigs: special ticket opportunities for season ticket holders for Reading games on IronPig away dates.
Another is a co-op with SWB to encourage road trips between the two stadiums such as the NN had this weekend. But then: Here’s another question: How long do you think the SWB AAA team will be viable if they can’t start drawing more fans? The NYY must like the proximity, and they’ve had a winning team, but still, we know the economics: you’ve got to have fannies in the seats in order to sell the hot dogs and beer and pretzels and make a profit. Is the ownership well-cashed?
