A comment by frequent reader “Kram” made me wonder what others out there would like to see happen/come out of the Ironpigs and Coca Cola Park. We, the fans, have proven ourselves over the past 3 years and I would think we could have a bigger impact on what we would like to see happen. Keep in mind that limo service to games, lazy boys in the outfield and bottle service will probably not happen… Now that I think about it, there is a local limo service that offers a plan to take you and your friends to Ironpig games for the night. Anyone know which company that is?
Anyways, I want to hear from you! What would you like to see become reality at CCP?

To get us started, here are the two thoughts from “Kram”
1. Special ticket opportunities for season ticket holders for Reading games on IronPig away dates.
2. A co-op with SWB to encourage road trips between the two stadiums.
I do see an opportunity for “away game” coordination to support the other teams in Pennsylvania. Perhaps one day our team might need such support and we should establish a good working relationship now?
Your thoughts/ideas/comments?

I would like to see them not charge to park. Especially for season ticket holders, who are already giving CCP a nice chunck of change.
Also, after being in Scranton on Sunday, they had a player signing autographs after the game. Maybe this is a stretch b/c after all, they have done the pictures in the Morning Call on Sundays when there is a home game on a Monday and you can get player autographs.
More opportunities for autographs would be nice. Maybe even a “kids only” line?
A kids only line would be nice.
I have been thinking about things and in Reading, they have special photo opportunities for the kids with the players before certain games. That would be another good thing. I know my boys, especially Tyler, really do idolize these players and to get them to have a chance to get a picture taken or something would be awesome!
A-1 Limousine is an advertiser on the Pigs radio games. They took over Elite Limo which had a great jingle and boasted of going to “your special night at the IronPigs.” I guess they still answer to http://www.elitelimo-pa.com/
99 red balloons for EACH kid at the Park
I’ve got more where these came from, but I won’t bore with them now.
As for the Reading thing, I think it would be easy to set up a 9-game plan and call it the AAA-friendly plan. They could market it to both Reading fans and LV fans on both web sites, and give a special discount to LV season ticket holders. The same could be done in reverse, where one of the 9 or 18-game pigs packages could be marketed to Reading fans and labeled as such.
The deal with SWB would have to be smaller, but something like 3 of the eight pigs games plus two others when the pigs are on the road and SWB is home, for a total of 5 games, with special group price/recognition/seating etc.
I like the parking idea above. Of course, you can get a free parking pass with a four-ticket full-season purchase, but they could lower the carrot a little to two-ticket 36-game level. They probably need that parking revenue to pay rent to LSI for the lot–just speculating. Anyway, if I’ve got an extra $3 in my pocket at the game, I’m probably spending it anyway, so I don’t think they’d lose much overall.
Same kudos for the kiddo autographs idea. I think Sunday post-game autograph sessions for kids-only would be awesome. They could incorporate it with the kids clubs and the run the bases promos. I’d even be willing to pay for the autographs (for my kids) if it went to ironpigs charities. I could care less about autographs myself; I sign my name all day long, and it’s a drag. My kids do love these guys. Sure, they have their favorite MLB players, but that’s so much more nebulous than the guys they get to see live, game-in and game-out. They get to see how these guys handle themselves on the field, how they prepare, everything–different from TV. I haven’t been able to get to the baseball camps because of my schedule, so the autographs would be a cool way for the kids to get closer. The one autograph day is just so hectic.
Lots of great comments. I hope you do forward these to the staff at CCP and they take notes and listen to the fans!
Sorry..that wasn’t supposed to be there.
I also wanted to say, I didn’t know you get a parking pass with 4 full season tickets. We have 4 season tickets and don’t have a parking pass. I just sent a message to Scott Hodge, our ticket rep. Thanks….
I believe that goes for Club level or Front row seats only.
Sorry about that with the four ticket thing if I was wrong. I didn’t look it up. But certainly, if you have four full-season tix, you’d get a free preferred parking pass if *I* was running things!
“I sign my name all day long, it’s a drag.”
Ha
Thanks for the memories!
🙂
Someone once told me that an autograph was once thought of as “Proof you met that person.” Today’s million dollar autograph industry has corrupted that and the days of Autograph books are long gone.. would like to see them recover though.
Going into a deeper thought (look out), the base idea of autographs, pictures with players, etc. is interaction with the team. I think that is what makes the Ironpigs special. A lot of the players go out of their way to talk to and include fans, especially kids, in the games. Last year I remember players actually inviting kids to join them in the locker room to hang out with the team. They have kids too and realize how cool something like that is.
The days of digital prescribing are coming, and I won’t have to sign my name so often…
And, yes, I look forward to autograph day, myself, so that I can see my kids interact, and so that I can thank the players personally for their effort (where appropriate…. 😉 )
I have to agree with Heather on the parking thing. They do make alot of money on season ticket holders and others alike. The autogragh session especially for the kids is nice too. They do a good job with the Morning Call pics on the Monday home games. Would also like to see that season ticket holders are guarenteed the giveaways. I don’t know how they could do this but club level people are assured to get the giveaway no matter what. Remember last year when they gave out the World Series replica rings and the J.A. Happ bobbleheads. You had to get there REALLY early if you wanted one. Imagine how it will be when they give out the Andy Tracy and Brian Schneider bobbleheads!
If you’re a full-season ticket holder, and you have a ticket rep, call him/her following a giveaway day and ask for one if you didn’t get one. I was told that there are often extras–and I know from the club level that when I leave the game the staff are still there with piles of whatever it is left.
I know what you’re saying, though. The J.A. day was also the day I was hosting a 50-person group at field level ( it was also the Michael Taylor cycle). We were all there in line well ahead of the gates opening but only a couple people got the give-away. I went upstairs and got a couple with my other tickets and gave them away.
Here’s another suggestion along the lines of giveaways, though: there should be more giveaways that are for adults AND children. My kids fight over that stuff and it would be better to get one per ticket instead of one per adult (or kid, or whatever. I only have two seats, so I only bring one kid at a time, usually).
