Word has it that when Brad Lidge returns to the Phillies tomorrow that LHP Bastardo will be optioned down. Maybe the Ironpigs, maybe the R-Phils. We’ll see!

Perhaps Anderson makes room.
mlb transactions say Bastardo was optioned to the Lehigh Valley Ironpigs.
“Philadelphia Phillies optioned Antonio Bastardo to Lehigh Valley IronPigs.”
Thanks, Decal.
And now…
The IronPig pitcher making way for Bastardo is :

Wassermann.
Really? Hmm, Wasserman=Koplove, I guess. He was just getting to “gaining acceptance” status in my household. Speaking of which:
Stock rising:
Duffy (kids love him)
Dorta
Hoover
Wise (ditto, Duffy)
Tracy
Carpenter (gently)
Sardinha
Hoover
Bastardo (AAA-wise)
Thompson
Rollins (AAA rehab?)
Bump
All-Star Sandwich
Stock falling:
Ransom (using him as negative example for son to keep his mouth shut during little league)
Anderson
Savery (credit for strikes, demerits for walks)
Vogelsong
Bocock (“Runs like Hayes, hits like —-“)
rain (cost me Reading–front row–tix Monday=Strasburg n/h)
Holding Steady:
Mazone
Mayberry
Sellers
Duckworth
Gordon
Huppert
Hambone
Mathieson (already highly liked)
Maza
Also, stock up: Zagurski
I have to agree…stock up Zagurski.
Chris Duffy is definately a favorite among my boys, especially, Tyler. On the Tuesday of the last homestand, he took a little bit of time out to come over and talk to him. He noticed we are regulars and asked about the upcoming games. We told him we couldn’t make Wednesday’s due to Tyler playing in his first t-ball game. He started talking to him about t-ball. Tyler was so excited after he was finished talking with him.
Ryan Madson is on the DL retroactive to Thursday with a broken right big-toe. Bastardo back to the bigs.
wow, that was quick. I wonder if Bastardo’s Town Car had to turn around in Binghamton. 😉
Stock Falling: Bastardo (AAA version)
If I was a team owner I would not pay DL time for players who maliciously caused their own injuries. Remember when Aaron Boone got released because of a driveway basketball game injury or Lance Berkman tearing out a knee in a church picnic flag football game? Those guys weren’t being stupid, Madson was.
Player and Club responsibility is clearly laid out in the Collective Bargaining Agreement with respect to injuries.
A player is expected to understand it is a big part of his job is to keep himself physically fit so as to be able to participate throughout the league championship season on behalf of his employer, the club.
