A few things I’ve been wanting to comment on…
The PA announcer at Coca Cola Park, Tim Chorones does a great job. I’ve been to a few parks and the excitement and energy he puts into the stadium is far beyond the bland reading of the others. It significantly adds to the fun atmosphere in the park and wanted to take a moment and say it out loud.
Another complaint I heard a lot about was the slow moving tickets lines. I found out why this was, yes I said was, and it was due to a printing issue on the tickets. The barcodes were aligned with a line pattern on the paper ticket itself and threw off the bar code readers. While season ticket and group leaders were contacted and replacement tickets issued.. some clever ushers actually came up with a card’like device to “fix” the problem. Leave it to American inguenuity!
2 Weeks ago if anyone had said the Ironpigs would be short on outfielders we all would have collectively laughed at them. But as we have seen this week, 2 quick injuries placed the team into that spot. Injuries to Wise and Duffy at least gave Rich Thompson to prove he is lineup worthy. I wonder what happens when both return to the lineup. There is no way Mayberry sits so could there be some transactions forthcoming?
Speaking of transactions… With Bastardo’s arrival in Allentown, RHP Jason Anderson flew to Portland last night to join the Reading Phillies. While he was struggling, and deserving of the demotion this time, Anderson has been a strong work horse for the Pigs over the past few seasons and I hope he can return to form and come back home to CCP.

I will second that comment on Tim Chorones. He does a great job.
Another comment. I enjoy watching Rich Thompson play. He does it all with his fielding and hitting and he’s fast. Steals some bases for you 2. Knows how to make things happen. Made another good catch 2-day this time in centerfield. OINK!!
I usually dislike ‘me too’ comments, but I have to put in a third for Tim. He had us in stitches last night as he was yelling at the guy to put down the cell phone and stop eating on the ‘kiss cam.’ He does a great job narrating for Ferrous and Fefe too–he could even be a little crazier if he wanted…
Love Richie Thompson as well. I’m never disappointed to see him in the lineup.
I wish we could get some solid injury info on Wise and Duff–I’m hanging on tidbits from Schuler at this point.
Provence mentioned on the radio today that he said he (wise) was feeling good.
What happens when Wise and Duffy return?
Provided Philadelphia does not require anybody – back to the platoon that was being employed to start the season.
Thompson, who is off to a fine start and IS a valuable guy with speed and glove, is probably # 4.
That speaks to the improvement of the quality of outfield depth for the IronPigs in year three.
Think of the original IronPig outfield from year one :
Pascucci the Slug
Bohn and his Twig
Snelling always hurt
Watson and his non-chalant shuffle
Bastardo has looked sharp the past two days since finally arriving from Philly.
Some R-Phils relievers off to a good start :
Stephens – (6 ga, 0.00 ERA, 13.1 ip, 4 bb, 7 so)
German – (9 ga, 1.80 ERA, 10.0 ip, 5 bb, 11 so)
Escalona – (9 ga, 2.35 ERA, 7.2 ip, 2 bb, 9 so)
Zagurski, the highest paid IronPig, finally got out of an inning unscathed.
Should IronPigs reliever Throw Gas On Fire (Wasserman) looking over his shoulder?
Tim is a card… Provence, I’ll just keep my mouth shut…
I had my ticket printed out from the web…no prob with the barcode…
I was originally in 109 right behind, I’m thinking, Pedro Alvarez’ family… or at least some rrrrreallybig fans…
The “problem” tickets were the official pre-printed tickets. My ticket card didn’t have any problems either.
I’m with the rest of you on how much fun it is to listen to Tim! He’s actually a former coworker, and I’ve had the pleasure of seeing him do some really. crazy stuff at retirement parties and assemblies (we’re both teachers – does that tell you something?)
As far as the outfield goes, it’s been fantastic so far, and I’d hate to see anyone have to leave – unless, of course, it’s to go to Philly! I’ll reserve further judgement until everyone’s healthy and playing again.
I agree with the fans above, Tim does a great job. I love the enthusiasm and energy he puts into the microphone.
I saw on Milb.com, that the game today was a sellout ?? Very impressive and I’ll be there Thursday ! OINK !! OINK !!
