The Pigs again failed to score until the 9th inning when they scored 2 and threatened more but were quickly shut down.
Savery – what can I say. This guy is just cannonballing. He went 6 innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits and earned his 4th loss of the season. You can’t mention tonight’s game without noting that 2 of those runs were unearned as the infield botched a double play to load the bases then John Mayberry showed himself as he dropped a semi-routine fly ball. Chris Duffy saved Savery some more runs making an incredible catch on a line drive that would have cleared the loaded bases and only resulted in one tag up run.
Now the big news. I was at the broadcast table with Matt Provence and Jon Schaffer tonight when they got the news that Brian Schneider will make rehab appearances Friday, Saturday and Sunday with the Ironpigs. The Lehigh Valley native is in good shape and is doing some fine tuning until he is eligible to come off of the DL.

I can’t wait to see Schneider. I think it’s awesome that a LV native who is in the big league can get to rehab in his own backyard with his family and friends there to watch.
I’ve ordered my ticket for Friday’s and Saturday’s games !
Anything going on, Saturday before the game ?
Saturday Concert Series with the Nazareth-native singing with his band….if that counts. Happy hour beer/hot dogs 4:30-5:30.
There is a pregame show at Pitchers. Not sure if the gang will be there but I’m going to stop over.
The online feed was (if you can believe this) worse than WEEX/WTKZ (I audio-captured a sample while the big guy was on)… let’s just say I’m glad they only do this once a week…
I can’t get down there Saturday or the next Wednesday they’ll be out in the concourse, but I’m still expecting to make it Sunday (rain forecast…) and Monday night…
I tried one of the Cuban sandwiches Wednesday night. From everything I read about a Cuban online, you NEVER put mayo on them so I ordered one without. It could have used a little more mustard but it wasn’t bad. It also would have been easier to eat if the pickle would have been a long flat slice rather that pickle chips. The pork/ham combo was very tasty and I’d eat one again if they were available.
When did Joe Savery forget how to hold runners on second base?
I don’t remember if it was Alonso or Balentien but one of them was standing almost directly behind homeplate when they were on-deck. Taubenheim buzzed him with a few high and tight pitches and then Luis Maza got buzzed a few times in the 9th as possible retaliation.
I overslept Thursday morning and didn’t bother rushing around to get to the ballpark.
I didn’t notice the flybys but did notice the runner jog to third before Savery even started his windup.. Where were the infielders for that one? Yell “STEP OFF GOING!” … of course then he probably would have balked. This team seems to do the extraordinary things well, yet not the basics.
