Well this isn’t really a rumor.. just one that I heard and will now put to rest.
The rumor was purportedly that the Scranton and Lehigh Valley teams were thinking of trading affiliates. That’s right. Could you imaging the Phillies AAA in Scranton again and the marketing dream of an Ironpig gone to the “Yankees” name?
Well today it was announced that the Yankees have agreed to a deal to stay in Scranton until 2014. Rest well tonight Pigfans.. for tomorrow is another day.

It sounds downright weird, since the Stein/Finley organization and Mandalay, who manages the Scranton team under contract with the big Yanks, really have never had dealings with each other… at least public, anyway…
And even if it were pulled off, they’d have to take all that Coke signage out of CCP…the Yanks drink Pepsi…

Also – anyone know what has happened to Wilson Valdez since the Phillies designated him for assignment ? I know he had to clear waivers, but Milb.com still listed him as a Phillie/IronPig.
I believe a player can have “designated for assignment” status for up to 10 days before a move needs to be made according to CBA.
