Ironpigs Offense is Offensive

Well they lost another one.

Cody Ransom, for a second night in a row, committed an error that resulted in the go ahead run scoring. (He should have had a second error later in the game but the scorer was much more generous and awarded a hit)

They had 3 hits. 3 hits. 3 FRIGGIN HITS! Dorta had two of them with a triple and home run. Dave Huppert was waving him around to attempt an inside the park home run but Dorta noticeably went into a trot for the first few steps and didn’t have the momentum to get around third as Val Pascucci fumbled with the ball in right field.

Pascucci also missed a diving catch later in the game. I don’t remember him diving or hustling like that when he was a Pig… hmm?

Mike Cervenak didn’t play tonight but made himself available to fans both before and after the game.

Last and not least, Valdez went back up leaving the Pigs shorthanded today. No word on a replacement for him on the roster but they could just be waiting for Andy Tracy to be eligible to come off of the DL.

My copy of the Buffalo roster obtained from fan services lists Mike Cervenak on the 7 day disabled list. The team site lists him as having right plantar fascitis but he’s expected to come off the DL at any time. Milb.com shows his last game played was May 2nd. I believe it was May 16th last year that Cervenak took a Tommy Hanson fastball on the wrist which put him on the DL for several weeks.

I’m not sure I’d classify the “Pascucci Flop” as a dive!

The Ironpigs were 16-24 at this time last year and 14-34 in 2008.

  2. The Phils transactions list has been woefully un-updated since Hoov went up to replace Schneider.

The IL transactions list as of 11.11AM does not have Valdez going back, but did have Ennis to Reading, and just added Cerv to the Buffs.

What, The Slug was hustling and dove for a ball?

Mayberry should be ashamed of himself!

A whopping three hits for a second night in a row, I believe.

    Ah, who cares, right?

The Philadelphia Phillies are in first place.

    That is all that matters.

So long as the IronPigs do not run out of free red balloons!
