Just called the Ironpig’s ticket office and reiterated a question I’ve heard a lot in the past few weeks.
“Are All Star game tickets printed yet?”
Well the answer is, not yet… but on Monday June 7th the answer will be YES!
Getting closer Pig fans… getting closer.
Our next task is to get at least one Ironpig into the game. Voting starts on June 4th… just 2 days from now and can be accessed on the International League website.
Don’t forget to write in your favorite if they aren’t included on the form.
OINK!

Good news can’t wait 2 get them. Vote for Rich Thompson!!! And how bout Mayberry? Oink!!
When I look at my online account it says “Will Call” for the Pigapalooza tix. Does that mean they can be picked up now?
Allstar Voting:
Fan votes account for 1/3
Media votes account for 1/3
Mgr/Coaches/GM account for 1/3
If the fan vote only counts for 1/3 of the overall vote, isn’t it a waste of time to try to stuff the ballot box with write-ins for anyone not among the league leaders in any offensive categories? A player can win on the fan ballots but if he doesn’t win on either the media vote or the vote of the managers/coaches/general managers, it’s highly unlikely he’ll get in. I can’t see anyone other than the local diehard fans voting for a guy currently hitting .276 with 1 HR and 10 RBIs.
Since he’s tied for 1st in homeruns by an outfielder in the International League I’m guessing Mayberry will be on the ballot and won’t require a write-in vote. He should have a legitimate shot at winning a spot in the outfield. The variable in all of this is that many AAA prospects may get called up to the major leagues before July 14th.
Well it could help push some close calls into the arena. Not many Coaches and Media will select an Ironpig as an All Star. Sure there will be the weenie.. at least one from the home field team.. most likely Andy Tracy, but if we push a little harder we may get some in there on the second team who might get some game time.
Woohoo!! I can’t wait to get my tickets! I hope they look different then the regular tickets.
I really think if Mayberry can keep his average in the .280 range through the voting period he has a really good shot at starting in the outfield. He has an advantage of name recognition which should account for votes from fans of other teams, especially since he’s known in the Pacific Coast League because he played there. He hit .263 with 18 HRs for Oklahoma City in the PCL in 2008 so he should get some votes from their fans, and Omaha is the AAA team for the KC Royals which is where John Mayberry Sr. played most of his career. Andy Tracy has the name recognition thing in his favor as well and if he continues playing close to the way he played this week, then he could make the team. Mathieson should have a shot at making the pitching staff as well. Carpenter may also have a chance since he was there last year and pitched well.
I don’t know off hand how many players they take on the allstar team but you have to keep in mind that there are 14 teams in the International League and it’s likely every team will have at least 1. How many players can they really afford to take from the team with the worst record even if the game is in their home ballpark? I’m hoping it’s at least more than 1.
