Game Notes 6-7-10 and More!

The Pigs won the first game ever by the score of 1 to 0. It split the home series with the Charlotte Knights and gives us Pig fans hope for a 3 game streak!

Cody Ransom made a great play at third early in the game, snagging a hard hit grounder then throwing out the runner from well behind third base.

Willy Tavares made an insane catch in center field to save an extra base hit! What a pickup he is!

Speaking of great additions to the lineup look at Figueroa! He went 6 innings allowing 2 hits no runs, walking 2 and struck out 4!

A lot of rumbling coming out of Philadelphia for the left field position. I have a feeling our outfield rotation will take a hit soon. I’m saying Duffy but Mayberry could be a possibility soon too.

JA Happ is scheduled to make a rehab start in Clearwater tomorrow. Let’s hope he works through rehab and gets back to Philly soon.

Another great night of baseball! OINK!

I think they might like that right-handed power from Mayberry, but I could be wrong…

What’s this about the rumbling in Philly? They need another left fielder?? I hate to say it, but I hope it’s Duffy and not Mayberry, but with Mayberry not playing today, it makes you wonder….

Well, if Mayberry’s knee is still hurting him, perhaps it WILL be Duffy. Or if Taveras starts hitting… We’ll see. Do I have to wait until after the ASG to start calling for Brown?

  3. Don’t ask me how long it’ll be up, but B&B got a screen shot of the play off TV2:

My brother is an old schooler who believes in the philosophy “score a run it should mean something”.

Personally, I have no problem with pinball so long as the IronPigs win their fair share of games.

The crowd was noticeably vocal over the radio waves, particularly considering it was Monday and there was ‘only’ a little more than 8,000 at the Park.

As for the first-ever 1-0 win — I say it is about time the ‘Pigs play with Iron!

A victory with the minimum scoreline on a two-out hit…hopefully, a good omen in terms of getting out of the IL cellar.

The Phillies never seem to be in a hurry bringing their young hitting prospects to the majors. In the recent past I think Utley was the youngest to get called up as a starter and he was probably 24 or 25. Domonic Brown won’t turn 23 until September. When he does get called up it won’t be as a part time player so they’ll make sure he’s ready when the time comes. I don’t think that time is 2010.

While listening to the postgame show on the radio while driving home from the game last night I heard them say that Tyler Flowers has hit 5 of his 10 homeruns against the Ironpigs. That’s pretty impressive. I remember when he was still in the Braves organization and played in the Arizona Fall League 2 years ago with Marson and Donald and led the league with 12 homeruns in 20 games. The Braves traded him to the White Sox that December in the deal that brought Javier Vazquez to Atlanta. Flowers had tested positive for PEDs just out of college in 2006 and served a 50 game suspension but he has been clean ever since.
