I, for one, am happy to see that Ryan Howard will not be making a rehab appearance with the Ironpigs tonight.
He’s healthy enough to return to the active lineup and that’s cool by me.
What, you say? You went out of your way to get tickets to tonight’s game JUST to see Ryan Howard? Well, that stinks for you.
While it would have been nice to see him play live, it is much better to know he is healthy.
So, as we all know… and have heard countless times over the past 3 years..
THE IRONPIGS ARE AT WHIMS OF THE PHILLIES!

My point being.. don’t be ignorant.
Don’t complain to the team because you came out to see Ryan Howard.
Don’t complain because that was the only reason you came.
Come out and enjoy a nice evening at the ballpark and have some fun.
Enjoy the food.
Enjoy the activities.
Enjoy the game.
Enjoy the people.
Enjoy the fireworks…… well, go ahead and complain about those.. everyone else these days has been.
Not sure who thinks living in a city is quiet but then again, I’ve lived in the Lehigh Valley most of my life and if people can’t find something to complain about.. they will find anything to complain about.
See you at the Pitcher’s pregame radio show at 5:00… then at the game.

I agree. The Phillies need Howard more than we do. Phillies are in the postseason chase !
I feel terrible for the IronPigs front office staff that will now hear complaints from some “fair weather fans”. If you only bought a ticket for tonight’s game to see Ryan Howard.. its a terrible reason to buy a ticket.
There is a lot more to enjoy at CCP then seeing a major league player rehab once in a while. There is nothing like CCP and its atmosphere – its one of the reasons why they lead the IL in attendance !!
Yeah you’re right Dan. I want to be mad (and I am) but there is no one to be mad at. Howard is healthy, he’s the starting 1B on the WFC, IronPigs have nothing to do with this decision.
I just hope people hear about this before they go to the game. I don’t want people going nuts when they announce the lineup.
The local radio stations, even the ones that carry the games, are NO GOOD at that.
Some people gravitate to AM790 because they’re the only live-news station around, but nobody who does that’s around Saturdays.
ESPN 1230/1320 has their weekday afternoon “Happy Hour,” but I’ve almost never heard them talk up the ‘Pigs even in cases like this when a Phillie would have been down here, other than that preseason game that christened the park in ’08.
The other stations are playing music of various ilks, and are lucky to even have a warm body on the air.
I wouldn’t be surprised that much of the crowd coming to the game gets any news about it over their wireless phones. (I now have one, BTW; number available upon request.) at&t isn’t a ‘Pigs sponsor for nothin’, let me tell ya…
As for me back in Crayon City, I’ll still be switching among this game, the Phils on Commie-cast, and the NASCAR Cup race on 6-ABC. I would probably have missed at least some of Howard’s exploits anyhow.
I’m still going to the game but now will leave my camera at home. LOL The other interesting part of the move today is that Russ Gload is going on the DL to make room for Howard. That probably means that Domonic Brown won’t be back here soon either.
FIREWORKS-Agree with what you say Dan.
Regarding that old codger’s complaint about fireworks. I guess he would rather see the other Allentown fireworks that go on, gunshot after gunshot, injuries and deaths. The IronPigs Management needs to take a stand and not cowtow to a few. First the mascot name, then the horns, now this. What’s next, no meat sales because a couple of PETA member complained?
