From the Desk of Decal – Andy Tracy Update

From Decal:

Another interesting tidbit heard along the way. Andy Tracy was 2-29 .069 for Aguilas in the Dominican League and then today (Wednesday) he was playing for Bravos de Margarita in the Venezuelan League. In game 1 of a doubleheader he pinch hit and walked. He started at first base in game 2 and went 1-2 with a double and run scored.

It will be interesting to see whose army Achillies ends up in when campaigning begins again in the spring.

Good to see Thompson’s (one-man) Rifle Battalion was re-signed.

Down with Tyranny – Down with the Yankees!

Would be a strange sight that would (will?) be – the most iconic player the IronPigs have ever had in another International League team’s uniform.

  3. Yikes at the thought of Andy Tracy possibly replacing Juan Miranda at first base with SWB….

Not to be outdone by Andy Tracy, Domonic Brown is currently hitting .053 (1-19) with Leones del Escogido in the Dominican Winter League.

    • .053 will guarantee a trip to Reading or Allentown in 2011….

      • Domonic Brown sat out the game on Saturday and was replaced in the lineup by SWB/NY Yankee Colin Curtis who was playing in his first winter league game. Brown was back in the lineup on Sunday but was dropped from third to seventh in the batting order. He went 0-4 so he is now 1-23 for a batting average of .043. He has struck out 7 times.
Andy Tracy has been doing much better in the Venezuelan League. He his now hitting .364 (4-11). Three of his 4 hits have been doubles.

Good thing ANDY TRACY is such a class act and all-around great guy (ask Kommandant Kehl) in addition to being easily the greatest player in the history of the not-so-greatest minor league baseball team with the coolest fans in the best little ballpark ever…

…because Tracy with the Yankees would be like Achilles playing with Hector and the Trojans.

Not to excuse treason, but it should be remembered that Benedict Arnold had real cause to feel under appreciated by the Americans for his heroic efforts on the battlefield.

And, every pun intended, the fortunes of war had left the once-wealthy business man broke.

If Andy Tracy gets a fatter AAA contract from the dreaded, in-state arch-rival Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees and has a whoop-ass season in the I.L., that would be the fault of the Philadelphia Phillies then.

The Continental Congress might have treated Arnold better – ironic that Philadelphia original meeting place.

I doubt it’s about contract so much as it’s about playing time.

If the Phillies are going to play Rizzotti at first every day and only use Tracy when they can have a DH versus him possibly playing every day be it for Scranton or where ever, he’ll no doubt take the playing time.

He’s got the same chance of making it with the Yankees with Tex at first that he does with the Phillies and Howard at first, none. So if the Yankees, Phillies, or whomever offer him a deal that let’s him play everyday and can possibly firm up a gig for him when his playing days are done either this year or next year then that’s where you’ll see Andy Tracy playing next.

Without any signings to analyze the situation more thoroughly, I see Brown starting in AAA.

Too good for AA, not ready to be everyday MLB, pointless to sit on the Major League bench.

Although I am sure he dug the paycheck, Mayberry’s development would have been better served to play everyday in AAA a few years back.
