This morning I got a message about a charity walk organized to benefit the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of the Lehigh Valley. The walk is being organized in honor of a young woman named Alyssa Stolvoort.
“Alyssa has been battling brain cancer since November 2008 and has undergone several surgeries, many rounds of chemotherapy and radiation in order to fight the cancer. At just 23 years old Alyssa has been an inspiration to many with her upbeat personality as she continues to fight.”
As you know, the Noise Nation keeps itself busy in the offseason trying to good in the Lehigh Valley and we will be participating in this walk.

I’d love to go, but I will be participating in a Vendor Event. Sorry, Dan.
Speaking of charity work … I just saw something on the Ironpigs app about a fantasy camp for kids. Wouldn’t it be cool if some of us could pitch in to provide a scholarship or two for kids who couldn’t afford to go otherwise? As a little girl in the ’80s, I spent a lot of time watching the Cubs on WGN with my dad. If a camp like this had existed then, I would have driven Daddy crazy, begging him to send me to Chicago to play ball with Ryno and the Red Baron. I would have been given the standard response: “We can’t afford that.” I’m betting that somewhere in Allentown, there is a 9-year-old girl who will pester her daddy to send her to fantasy camp, and her daddy — who is old enough to remember the Sandberg Game — will have to tell her no.
Is there a way we could turn that no into a yes for her?
I like that idea. Let me check on it. Stay tuned. The website shows a contact as: For more information, contact the IronPigs at (610) 841-1213 or via email at smarten@ironpigsbaseball.com.
We can do this. If you would like to contribute, please email me at editor@LVnoisenation.com for details of how to get the donation to us. Great idea redforkhippie!! π
