Just noticed an article posted by Todd Zolecki of the Phillies:
They are making pitcher Drew Carpenter a reliever. I wonder where that puts Carpenter in the organization come opening day? A new role might mean Reading or even Lakewood/Clearwater. If anything at all, the Ironpigs will have a great spot starter for those bullpen days.
OinK!

I could see Carp still in LV in a long-relief role until he either gets promoted/traded/cut/quits–about the time somebody gets promoted from Reading or comes out of extended spring training.
On an CCP note: pre-sale is going on now (for those who didn’t hear) for single game ‘Pigs tix for S/T holders in advance of the public sale on Saturday. It’s a great time to stock up on extra tix if you know that you will have company in town or what have you. Good until Thursday 5PM.
And, S/T packs can be picked up starting Sat March 5 10AM-2PM and during ticket office hours thereafter. I wonder if we’ll get a free gift, like the pint glass last year, this year?
Man, I have 3 of those pint glasses somewhere around here that I totally forgot about. Add another thing to the list of missing items I need to find. I’ve been using an Ironpigs glass with Conway’s BBQ on it. Not sure if that was from ’08 or ’09.
Putting Carpenter in the pen means there are now at least 18 guys battling for a spot in the Ironpig’s bullpen. The battle begins Thursday when Naylor, Bonine, Perez, Stutes, Schwimer, De Fratus and Mathieson are all scheduled to pitch against Florida State.
Decal, do you know if that game is going to be broadcast–or re-broadcast somewhere on TV cable or satellite? Just curious.
I love my pint glasses–much nicer than the plastic ones from the all star game. Kiddos are always using them, so they’re always dirty…
I was searching for something last night, hoping to at least find a radio broadcast. I didn’t see anything in the Philadelphia network but Florida State is doing the game on radio. The website was unclear but it appeared to me that you have to purchase a subscription to listen to their broadcasts online. Nothing I could find for TV.
Here’s the entire spring training schedule for mlb network:

The Phillies will be on YES and mlb network vs. the Yankees on Saturday and mlb network on Sunday night in a rebroadcast of the game from Sunday afternoon. Hamels, Worley, Feierabend, Schlitter, and Zagurski are scheduled to pitch Saturday.
Word out of Clearwater from Matt Gelb (Philadelphia Inquirer) is that Pete Orr will start at second base on Thursday vs. Florida State. Wilson Valdez will be at shortstop.
