As the Noise Nation loves all sports, we have found another wonderful night of entertainment and competition in the Lehigh Valley!
The last time I even thought of a roller derby was years ago watching Laverne & Shirley compete. Little did I know that since 2006 there has been a women’s team in the area. What could be more fun?!
From the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls Website:
Created for the skaters by the skaters, the Lehigh Valley Rollergirls are dedicated to providing an opportunity for women athletes to achieve their maximum potential, both athletically and intellectually through the sport of roller derby. This looks like a really good time! Our good friend Deb will be covering the Rollergirls for the Noise Nation so stay tuned for updates!

I guess y’all are too young to remember a 1972 movie called “Kansas City Bomber” starring Raquel Welch! I’m showing my age here but I used to go the roller derby at Liberty High School back in the late 60’s to see Judy Arnold and the Philadelphia (aka Eastern) Warriors compete against teams like the Texas Outlaws with bad guy Jim Trotter. They used to get close to 4,000 fans at Liberty for those events. Old channel 48 in Philadelphia used to televise roller derby every week .
There’s a league here in Tulsa. If only I had the coordination and free time necessary to pull it off….
