Today we get the Scranton Wilkes Barre Yankees back in town. Two games tonight then a game each night until Thursday. 5 games in 4 days!
Tonight – Weather is calling for temperatures in the mid-50’s and a slight chance of rain. Very slight. Game one starts at 6:05pm and will last for 7 innings as most double headers in the minors do. Game two normally will start 45 minutes after game one.
The giveaway tonight is the Ferrous mascot bobblehead! The first 2,000 kids 17 and under will receive this. Gates open 1 hour and 15 minutes before game time so think 4:50pm on a bobblehead day if you really have to have one.
Starting pitchers:
Ryan Feierabend will face off against Scranton’s Andrew Brackman. Brackman has one start this season and lasted 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits for a no decision.
Game 2 starters will see Drew Carpenter vs. Amaury Sanit. Both are standard to their respective bullpens but neither are a stranger to starting.
Tomorrow night the first 3,000 18+ adults receive a free Ironpig’s hat.
Wednesday is Irish heritage night. Always a good time with singing and dancing and baseball.
Thursday we will see a Go Green grocery bag and a Green jersey auction.
Come on out and have fun with us!
OinK!

Thought this was noteworthy. Pitcher Eric Pettis, author of the blog “just a MINOR perspective” lost for the first time as a professional today as Hagerstown scored an unearned run in the bottom of the 9th to defeat the Lakewood Blue Claws 1-0. After being drafted by the Phillies in the 2010 draft, Pettis was assigned to Williamsport where he went 8-0 with a 1.37 ERA. The loss today puts his 2011 record at 0-1 with 2 Saves. His 2011 ERA is 1.35.
BTW, love, love, love the lineup for the opening game tonight:
Thompson 8
Frandsen 6
Sullivan 7
Larish 3
Belliard 5
Young dh
Moss 9
Barfield 4
Kratz 2
I wouldn’t be against swaping Barfield and Kratz, or Young and Sullivan–but that’s picking nits. Now, Ryan, don’t screw this up. Go deep in this game so that Carp can come out firing in the second game for 3 innings then turn it over to a nice fresh Pen. As for the second game lineup, I think I see who’s hot. I don’t pull Frandsen for Hudson if he goes 3for4. I don’t pull the OF for Young or Miller unless they bagel. Maybe give Belliard the veteran rest if he wants it.
These five games are a great chance to burry the Yankees.
11:44PM
They’re going to have to put some bats on balls on the nights when Feierabend starts. He’s OK, but he’s not going to ovepower anyone, and we’re going to need the runs. So much for my lineup.
Stayed through the second inning of gm 2. Told kids we’d leave after the Pigs bat bottom 2. School night. You would’ve thought it was the 7th game of the world series…much cheering for rally bottom 2!
In the end, happy with the split. Thanks, Moss. Roster move on the horizon. Is Naylor ready? Seems natural, JC to DL, Z to PHL, Bass to pen, Naylor to starting rotation. Or, Gordon? I mean, he’s on the cover of Pork Illustrated!
