Game Results – 4/30/11

The Ironpigs got on the board first tonight and stayed there for the long haul winning 6 to 3 in the first game of 4 vs. the Buffalo Bison. In fact, it wasn’t that long at all. Tonight’s game lasted only 2 hours 38 minutes joining last night as two of the quickest games I’ve seen at The Coke. It’s nice to get home by 10:00pm…

Nate Bump looked great tonight! He lasted 6.2 innings allowing only 2 runs on 5 hits and those were late. Schwimer, Zagurski and Perez came on to finish the game out.

Ronnie Belliard really took a liking to the Bison’s pitching tonight! He went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI! Also with two hits is Jeff Larish who is quickly becoming a Coca Cola Park favorite. I wonder where he will fit in when Tagg Bozied comes back. I did notice Bozied in uniform today for the Miracle League game played before the game tonight.

Tomorrow is a day game! Looking forward to it.

Photos will be posted soon!

OinK!

Bozied has been in uniform and coaching first base quite a bit this season. His bat would look nice in there when we face a tough lefthander.
Brian Bocock began his rehab assignment in Clearwater tonight and went 1-3. Lots of questions to be filled on the infield in the near future. It would be tough to move Frandsen out of the lineup the way he has been hitting.
I was caught by surprise tonight when I entered CCP behind homeplate and saw Cory Sullivan in full uniform sitting on the bench next to the roasted nuts stand. It looked like he was waiting for someone to arrive at the ballpark so I didn’t bother him. But, in hindsight it would have made for a great photo.
Pleasant surprise to discover the “Hit Man” Mike Easler was the hitting coach for Buffalo. He had some great years, including .338-21 HR with the 1980 Pirates and .313-27 HR with the 1984 Red Sox. He even had a short stint with the Phillies in 1987, his final season as a player.

Provence talked with Easler for the TV2 pre-game, and (apparently) challenged him to remember all his teammates from the 1979 cup-winning Pirates team he was on.
