The Ironpig’s very own Vanimal, Vance Worley went 6 innings in his first start of 2011 with the Phillies last night! He allowed only 2 hit and 4 walks. Worley struck out 5 and even added a hit in his own behalf going 1 for 2 at the plate!
The Phillies offense came out strong for him leading to a shutout going into the 9th when Herndon came out to close the game and allowed 3 runs. He’s not protected by the Rule 5 draft rule anymore… why is he still up there?

For the Ironpigs game today, Nate Bump will be looking for his first win of the season facing Buffalo’s Daniel Carrasco (no relation to Carlos.. that I know of.) Carrasco, a native of Safford, AZ, has only 1 inning pitched this season in the International League. He does have more time with the big Mets pitching in 8 games, one start, with a loss and a blown save. His MLB ERA is 5.91.
It’s going to be clear and cool at The Coke tonight so be prepared. Temperatures could drop to the mid 40’s and winds can make it feel a lot colder. Hopefully the Ironpigs won’t have to pull the tarp to preserve a late lead. Perhaps if we all bring squirt guns and aim at the infield. (Please don’t really do that) . Anyways, it’ll be another good time and good baseball.
Tonight we will have the college dance teams and also the Miracle League game prior to the Pigs/Bison.
The Miracle League is a great great thing. We volunteered for a game last year and it was a lot of fun!
Good times!
OinK!

Yes, great job by Worley. Kudos also to IronPig Mike Stutes going an inning, 1 walk, 1 strikeout, no hits, no runs. And today, John Mayberry 2-4, tying the game with a HR, Sardinha catching the Great Roy and walking twice himself. GO PIGS!!
