First off, the biggest news of today is that Domonic Brown is returning to the Ironpigs!! In an already talented outfield it does leave you wonder who will be left out. More on that later in the post…
The Pigs bats didn’t do much today until later in the game when they broked out for 7 runs to beat the Bison by a final score of 7-2. Pitcher Shoeless Eddie Bonine looked a little shaky early but the defense held and the Bison only collected 2 runs on 11 hits. One thing I did notice is that Bonine gave up a lot of hits on 0-2 and 1-2 counts. Thinking back, this is becoming a trend and possibly something they can work on for the future, but altogether a great effort.
As for the hitting today, I really liked what I saw. The old theory of seeing a pitcher more than once and he belongs to the batter rings true with this Ironpig team. How many times have we seen a few scattered hits early then a breakthrough in the 6th or later innings… I like the depth and the ongoing efforts to keep the team in the game.
Speaking of depth, the addition of Domonic Brown may bring a frown to some of us fans. Someone has got to go. Currently the Pigs are running on only 4 starters and the bullpen took a hit with the loss of Stutes. Take away catcher Dane Sardinha and it really has to be an outfielder that leaves us.
Who could it be?
Brandon Moss, the Moss Hog per the Noise Nation, is an unlikely choice to go. He is hitting .232 but has a great clutch bat in RBI situations. I don’t see him leaving us.
Cory Sullivan is another guy who does well in the clutch but his .203 average might spell doom for him when Brown takes the field.
Then there is Delwyn Young. Hitting only .165, he has the lowest average of all the outfielders. His 3 home runs and 9 RBI can give him a boost though.
And then there is our old favorite Rich Thompson. Rich is hitting a fair .246 and his speed has been key to the Ironpigs, swiping 10 bases so far this season in as many chances.
So looking at the stats you would say Seeya Young.. nice having you around, but not so fast.. or maybe fast. Those of you who follow the Pigs have noticed Thompson not starting the past few days. He received a mid-season send down last year to Reading to make room in the outfield and as painful as it is to us.. it most likely will be him again. Not fair right? Ask Tagg Bozied about fairness, where he is riding the DL (perfectly healthy) until a spot opens up for him. This may look bad on the organization but I think it shows how splendid a job they did in the off season aquiring talent and grooming the home grown folks.
What do you all think?
OinK!

This is a tough one. I would have to say Thompson is going to go because the other guys have a better chance of making it to the majors. Hope I’m wrong!
After noticing that Richie T hasn’t been playing, I have a feeling it could be him again too. Doesn’t seem fair but what can you do?? Looking forward to seeing Dom Brown again.
Dom brown and bocock activated and assigned to LV. Matt miller to reading and rob Hudson released. Per Matt provence twitter. Thompson here to stay!!!
Thanks for that update Pog. When Utley returns to the Phils, someone has to be sent down and someone has to go. I don’t see Young hanging around. Not only because of his average, there just does not seem to be much effort there, his body language looks like he is not interested. I would prefer to see him released now and activate bozied.
The Ironpigs are still in need of another starting pitcher. Fortunately, with the off day on Wednesday they should be able to get by with 4 pitchers until Monday, May 9th.

Matt said on the radio that Gordon would get another start on 5/5. Perhaps by the time they return home from the Ohio trip we’ll see a roster move from one direction or the other.
