Today’s transactions were supplemented with two other moves. Matt Miller was sent to Reading and Rob Hudson was released. Hail and Farewell Rob.
Also, great news to hear Brian Bocock is back on the roster! Not sure where he will fit but with Frandsen on a tear right now but glad to have him back.
To celebrate today.. some of Cheryl Pursell’s Phinest Photos!

Kevin Frandsen.
Rob(ert) Hudson.
You’re welcome.
oops too much sun today… thanks man!
I guess you definately found a new photographer. Whatever…I’m done with all this bullshit.
I was going to write a full piece today, but by the time it goes up, it’ll probably be moot.
Dom Brown (#1 prospect in the organization, and just optioned as a AAA player) and Brian Bocock (coming off the DL as a 40-man guy) need to play. I imagine that Mr. Sandberg would be ‘encouraged’ to have them in the lineup every night. So where do they play? What should the lineup look like? Well, as always, I have an opinion:
For tonight:
1. Thompson CF
2. Frandsen 3B
3. Brown RF
4. Moss LF
5. Belliard 2B
6. Larish 1B
7. Bocock SS
8. Kratz C
9. Bass P
So I’ve got Belliard back at his normal 2B, which is the reason he was signed, with the Utley situation, right? I’ve got Frandsen at 3B, which he’s played a fair bit in the past and actually might be more natural for him than SS. This allows Bocock to return to his natural SS spot. IMO, Frandsen has to stay in the lineup for now. Barfield is available as an INF replacement, and Young and Sullivan are available for the OF.
For the Ohio road trip, against AL competition:
1. Thompson CF / Sullivan CF / Barfield 2B
2. Fransen 3B
3. Brown RF
4. Moss LF/DH or Young LF/DH
5. Belliard 2B or Young LF/DH
6. Larish 1B
7. Young or Sullivan (DH/RF)
8. Kratz C
9. Bocock SS
So there are some platoon options there, and the ability to give old man Belliard a break, and some flexibility for Dweezy. Like Dan, I’m worried that Young may not be happy, and that an opt-out is on the way. If so, I wish him well. If not I’ve got no problem keeping him with the understanding that production earns at-bats.
I’m going to be late getting there, but I’m really looking forward to the game tonight. Rain or no rain. Bobble or no bobble.
PS: Brian Bass and Kevin Frandsen at the autograph table tonight.
Right players for tonight except Larish 5th(Ryno has him too low), then Belliard, then Kratz, then Bocock. Bocock just coming back and even healthy, Kratz is a better hitter.
Yeah, it was a good guess. Kratz is a catcher, though, and doesn’t run well (or, because he’s a catcher…) so I can see keeping him low. Bocock is a classic end-of-the-lineup hitter, unless he can really start hitting for average. Larish is disappointing at times–seems to hit better on the road.
Doubt Bass was at the table; he was the starting pitcher! They need to coordinate those Morning Call inserts better.
