First the Transactions & Announcements…
Pitcher Joe Blanton is heading to the Disabled list and the Phillies recalled Vance Worley again. Word is Bump will start tomorrow for the Pigs and Bonine is back to the rotation again.
Also, the Phillies have signed Scott Posednik to a minor league deal. Another outfielder is just what we need. Thinking it could be a replacement if they want to send Brown back to us. Of note, the deal is pending a physical.
To add more to the mix, the Phillies have sent Pete Orr our way to activate Chase Utley. Another infielder.
How nice is it to have TOO MANY good players? π

Also got to see our favorite Dance Team out at the Applebees today! Got the car washed by the Precious Metals Dance Team to benefit The Race for Adam! It was a little cooler than it could have been and word is they are planning another one soon! Thanks to all who came out today!

Just saw this on the Hog Blog by Jeff Schuler – Contreras will be having a rehab stint with the Pigs tomorrow. If you think you see him, you probably are seeing him.

Today the Ironpig’s continued their winning ways and defeated the G-Braves 8 to 6. This team is really impressing me. Not used to all this winning! They are currently 5 games ahead of both Pawtucket and SWB in the North Division and the 27-16 record is second only to the Columbus Clippers.
Good times!

It’s always fun seeing some of the top prospects in baseball pass through Coca-Cola Park and one of the best will be on display Monday night when the Ironpigs face Julio Teheran and the Gwinnett Braves. The 20 year old righthander is generally considered the best pitcher not to start 2011 in the major leagues. Teheran is 3-1 1.91 for Gwinnett this year and has also made 2 starts for Atlanta, one of them against the Phillies on May 7. He has drawn comparisons to a young Pedro Martinez.
Just a thought, but maybe Podsednik is an insurance policy in case one the their outfielders opts out of their contract. Orr provides the same kind of insurance and both these guys will add more team speed. The next 2 weeks should be interesting.
Brian Bocock started another terrific doubleplay today on a ball that would have been a single to left with anyone else playing shortstop.
Another team first and this is one I like:
THE LEHIGH VALLEY IRONPIGS CURRENTLY HAVE A BETTER RECORD (27-16 .628) THAN THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES (28-18 .609)!!!
Who could have thought all this, our IronPigs in 1st place 5 games up and 11 games above .500. I know it’s early but so far it looks like they are beginning to run away with the division and it’s a nice “problem” to have…too many good players. How bout that, the ‘Pigs having a better record than the parent club the Phillies!! I’m I dreaming here?!?
PS..Thanks to the Precious Metals on the great job they did on my car. It shines again!! I certainly hope they raised alot of money despite the cool cloudy day. Thanks ladies you’re the BEST!!
The woman to your right, our left, is Rosa, I seem to recall reading someplace… who are the other three?
Close, but no cigar π That would be Lo
Heather, congratulations on winning the Triple Play Challenge this week! What did you get?
I’m not her, but the prize would include a t-shirt and four vouchers, along with whatever points they award…
I’ve been close a couple times, and currently sit in 8th overall. I’m tweaking an algorithm to help the prediction.
I love t-shirts, but vouchers do me little good. I’ll take that suite, though, or a few season tickets for the whole deal.
Whoa, careful with those headlines. Missed the first exclamation point and thought this was a story about a T&A Carwash (which, I guess wasn’t too far off judging by that photo) and I began to wonder what I missed at yesterday’s game, lol!
