Ironpig Game Results 6-6-11 Pigs Heading Home

The Pigs took down the Charlotte Knights 3 to 0 this evening and completed their road trip with 6 wins and 2 losses. They come home with the best record in the International League (With Columbus losing to Louisville today)

For the Pigs, Posednik (also the trivia answer tonight) went 3 for 5 and Kratz went 2 for 3 with a walk.

Brian Gordon continued to dominate, going 6 innings allowing 3 hits, no runs and struck out 11. He should have another start this week and is well on his way to Pitcher of the Week credentials.

Pigs come home for autograph day tomorrow. Get there early and from 5:30 to 6:15pm the team will be signing for fans on the concourse at The Coke.

See you there!

WOW, GORDON!! Check out his stats: 5-0, 6 runs, 4 earned,0.74 ERA. Innings pitched-48.2, 47 SO, 7 BB, 31 hits, 2 hr, 1 hbp, opponents batting .181…..Looking forward to seeing him pitch Saturday again…

  2. 18 strikeouts by Gordon (11) Schwimer (5) and Zagurski (2) has to be an Ironpigs record for most strikeouts in a 9 inning game. Three runs scored all via the sacrifice fly is pretty cool too. I can’t say I’m thrilled that so far whenever Mayberry plays, Moss sits. I guess that’s what happens when one is on the 40 man roster and the other is not. This team deserves a nice ovation of appreciation from the fans Tuesday night. 8 straight games vs. Durham and Louisville is going to be tough.

Anyone interested in the ‘state of the pigs’ luncheon on 7/15?

    • Has there been any mention of the menu?

Hmm, good point. “Buffet-style” could be anything. I’ll see what I can find out. I get enough ballpark food as it is–plus, I don’t like it when I have to get up and get my own food. That’s what I have to do at home–when I go out, please bring the food to me. šŸ™‚

I’m semi-interested in getting a table, and might need help filling the seats. I’ll stay in touch. Fridays are my days off, so it’s an opportunity…

I’ve considered the luncheon myself and I think July 15 is my Friday off from work. If you need help filling the seats, I might be interested.

*Als0 – Les Walrond now assigned to Reading as Josh Zeid went on the DL today**

Also of note: Charlotte Knights released 2nd baseman – former IronPig Ozzie Chavez today

  6. Yeah, I’ll keep in touch via this board depending on what I decide to do about the lunch.

Haven’t seen a corresponding move for the IronPigs. Grilli, perhaps?

I’ve seen enough of Ozzie. I wish him well in his life’s work.
