Don’t Want to Miss This – Saturday July 16th 6:00PM

On Saturday, July 16th at 6:00PM our very own Lehigh Valley Roller Girls will be facing the NHRD Skate Free or Die All Stars at the Independence Family Fun Center in Schnecksville.

Ticket cost $12 at the door or only $10 if you purchase them in advance. Tickets can be obtained via the Roller Girl’s Website – http://www.lehighvalleyrollergirls.com/

I really encourage you to come out an experience this. You can hoot and holler and make as much noise as you want. You have skaters pushing, shoving and crashing their way around and a helpful program that explains the rules and how scoring works.

Good times!

IronPig Game Results 7/10/11 – Richie Hustle!

Rich Thompson had another great day at the plate today going 3 for 5 with one run scored leading the IronPigs to a 5 to 2 victory over the Syracuse Cheifs. Thompson also turned a 9th inning infield error into a 3 base effort!

Young, Kratz and Bozied all had multi-hit games including a triple by Bozied.

For the Pitching staff, Brummett went 5 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits earning his first AAA win. Edell, Walrond and Grilli each added an inning with DeFratus coming on to close out the game, allowing 1 run in the 9th.

Watching the Phillies/Braves game this afternoon was quite a treat for this IronPig fan.

Domonic Brown went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and 2 Runs scored and John Mayberry was 3 for 5 with 3 doubles and 4 RBI.

Great to see our IronPigs helping out the Phillies. It does, however, bring doubt to my thoughts of if/when Mayberry or Brown ever come back down to the Lehigh Valley. I haven’t heard anything on how long Victorino will be out but if these guys are producing I couldn’t imagine them being sent down in favor of an aging Ibanez or Fransisco. I believe that Brown’s speed will be a key factor in that decision and we will see.

IronPig Game Results 7/9/11 – Not too Shabby

The Pigs jumped onto the Syracuse Cheifs tonight with a fury. Our Pigs stroked 14 hits for 6 runs in a 6 to 0 victory tonight in Syracuse.

Thompson, Barfield, Young, Kratz and Overbeck all had a multi-hit game. Thompson also got his 3rd triple of the season.

For the Worley Bird’s cameo visit back to the Pigs, he lasted 6 innings allowing 3 hits, striking out 3 and walking none. Worley threw 73 pitches, 47 of them for strikes.

Redding and Zagurski came on to close out the game.

The Pigs have one final game tomorrow in Syracuse before the All Star break. They will have Monday – Wednesday of this week off returning on Thursday for a quick 2 game homestand vs. Syracuse. From there they depart to, where else, Syracuse for 2 more game before heading to Pawtucket for 4. While July is very skimpy on home games for us, it will be made up to us with a monster 10 game homestand beginning on the 22nd. (Columbus, Pawtucket, Buffalo).

Don’t forget the season ticket holder picnic/All Star game viewing party is on Tuesday.

OinK!

IronPig Game Results 7/8/11 – Other Notes

The Pigs avoided being swept in a 3 game series against the Rochester RedWings tonight with a 9 to 5 victory.

Thompson, Young, Bozied and Overbeck had a multi-hit game and Kratz blasted his 12th HR of the season.

Starter Feierabend earned his 8th win improving his record to 8-5 on the season. He went 6 innings allowing 8 hits and 4 runs (3 earned). DeFratus received his first hold and our pal Michael “Phear the Phro” Schwimer finished out the last two innings.

Speaking of the Schwim-Fans, our order of Schwim-Fans t-shirts came in yesterday and look great.

The T-shirts are in!

If you’d like to get ahold of one of these beauties you can order one from the Official T-shirt Provider of the Noise Nation, Diamond Wear Apparel.

Website to order T-Shirts!

Tell them Noise Nation sent you!

In other news, Pete Orr was called up to fill the spot vacated when Shane Victorino was added to the DL. Also hearing some rumbling that Polanco may be injured as well. Who goes up to fill that spot? Possibly Bocock.. you never know. We’ll probably find out after the All Star break.

OinK!

Brian Gordon Korea Bound

As reported by @PhuturePhilz on Twitter, the Yankees have released Brian Gordon’s contract to the SK Wyverns for cash considerations.

Quite a journey Gordon continues to have. Perhaps he will have a following with his new team as Noise Nation does have a presence in Korea.

My first question to this was, “What in the world is a Wyvern?”

Apparently, the Wyvern is a legendary winged reptile with the head of a dragon, the back end of a snake and a barbed tail.

The South Korean Wyverns have seen some success of late. They finished first in 3 of the last 4 seasons and 2nd in 2009.

Wishing Brian Gordon and his family the best! What a great opportunity for his family to travel and experience the world.

Oink! (or whatever sound a Wyvern may make)

IronPigs Game Results 7/6/11 – Sometimes You Just Have to Applaud

And tonight is not one of those nights. A valiant effort by an individual to pitch a no-hitter is something to applaud. To be no-hit via several different pitchers is just a terrible terrible night at the plate.

Not much else to say.

Pigs lose to Rochester by a final score of 0 to 7.
