Wilson Award winner in 2009 (most outstanding special teams player)

PERSONAL — Born Marvin Johnson Jr. on April 28, 1988 in Compton, Calif. Parents: Marvin Sr. and Shelavante Moore. Family: One brother, one sister. High School (Coach): Dominguez (Willie Donerson), 2006. Major: Political Science. Redshirt: 2006.

2010 — Forced the first fumble of his career and made three tackles in win vs. Portland State • Totaled one stop in win at Tennessee • Three tackles in opener vs. New Mexico • One of the team’s strongest defensive backs paced the secondary during winter workouts with a 319-lb. power clean lift and 365-lb. bench press.

2009 — Given the Wilson Award for most outstanding special teams player at team’s postseason awards banquet • Tallied 29 tackles while playing in all 13 games while equalling his season-best with five tackles in the Rose Bowl vs. Ohio State • Role at the line of scrimmage increased after the season-ending knee injuries to Walter Thurmond and Willie Glasper, but has long proved to be one of program’s top special-team contributors • Assumed team’s nickel-back responsibility, accumulating a trio of tackles against California, Washington State, UCLA and USC • Produced his initial five-stop effort on the year at Stanford • Played season-high 48 snaps at Washington.

2008 — Key reserve and special teams stalwart finished the regular season with 14 tackles in 11 appearances • Career best six tackles against Utah State • Had a 21-yard fumble return in the season opener vs. Washington • Contributed at least two tackles in five outings while experiencing his most extensive action in his first three games of the year (57 snaps vs. Utah State) before being slowed by injury • Joined two of his teammates in equaling the program’s top power clean mark (330 lbs.) ever among defensive backs, and led the way in the secondary with a 350-lb. bench press during winter testing • Shaved 13 hundredths of a second off his electronic 40-yard dash time (4.79) from 2007.

2007 — One of team’s top special teams assets • Posted 10 tackles in 12 appearances, including three stops against California and two vs. Houston • Was recognized as team’s special teams player of the week against the Golden Bears • Played a minimum of 23 snaps in each of the final three games, including a season-high 37 vs. South Florida in the Sun Bowl victory.

2006 — Redshirt season • Honored five times for his work on the scout team, twice on defense and three times on special teams.

HIGH SCHOOL — Listed among California’s top 100 players by Rivals.com as well as the 26th-rated safety prospect in the nation • Garnered San Gabriel League MVP recognition as the all-state and all-CIF recipient was awarded “Dream Team” player of the year plaudits by the Long Beach Press-Telegram • Rushed for 1,016 yards and 18 touchdowns as a quarterback his senior year while passing for 1,250 yards (54-96), two interceptions and 19 more scores • Defensively, accumulated better than 90 tackles while intercepting five passes • Epitomizing his natural talents, he completed a 91-yard pass against Downey and a 92-yard run against Warren in a game where he accumulated 250 yards and three touchdowns on the ground • The finalist for state player-of-the-year honors led the Dons to the CIF Division III championship with a 13-1 ledger and a No. 5 state ranking.
