Pig’s Release One – Call Up an Old Friend

IronPigs transactions today:

OF Mike Spidale promoted to LHV from Reading (AA).

OF Lou Montanez released by Philadelphia.

Montanez was hitting .136 (a team low) in 17 games. He totaled 1 RBI and 1 extra base hit in his 44 at bats.

Spidale comes back to the Lehigh Valley from Reading where he’s hitting .390 in 13 games.

Farewell Montanez.

    And congratulations to former Phillies prospect and Ironpigs outfielder Michael Taylor on being promoted to the Oakland Athletics on Friday. Taylor went 0-3 on Friday and then started in right field on Sunday batting second and went 2-5. He was hitting .347 at Sacramento when he received the call up. He replaced Coco Crisp on the A’s roster after Crisp was placed on the 15 day DL.
