HAWKS CLIPPED IN OFFENSIVE BATTLE

Steelhawks Fall to Blizzard, Prepare for Three Game Homestand

Bethlehem, PA: In a matchup that before the game seem destined to be a defensive battle, the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks and Green Bay Blizzard combined for 137 points in front of a raucous crowd inside the Resch Center in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The end result was unfavorable for the visiting Steelhawks, as the team fell 76-61. Coming into the game the Steelhawks were ranked as the #2 scoring defense in the IFL and Green Bay was ranked third.

The Steelhawks, still trying to find consistency since they lost starting Quarterback Bryan Randall, were able to put up their best offensive output in many weeks behind a strong performance by their receiving crew. Wide Receivers Jeff Willis (106 yard, 3 touchdowns), Irani DeAraujo (38 yard, 2 touchdowns), and newcomer Isaac West (58 yards, 3 touchdowns) were able to combine for eight receiving scores on the night. Dale Fink and Aubrey Norris both shared the Quarterback duties for the Steelhawks in the game

Green Bay was able to use a strong first half to catapult them to their eighth victory on the season. The Steelhawks loss drops them to 4-6 and in a three way tie with Chicago and Omaha for the final playoff spot in the United Conference with four games to go. The Steelhawks now gear up for a three game homestand starting this Saturday against the Omaha Beef.

“It has been a frustrating last couple weeks to find consistency,” stated Steelhawks Head Coach Chris Thompson. “It was tough coming into this game a man down from a 21 man roster, and missing five starters due to private CFL tryouts and work issues for some of the guys, but hey that happens in Indoor Football and we have to plan accordingly. Green Bay is an amazing franchise and a team we will have to beat down the road if we want to achieve our goals. We get another shot at these guys again inside Stabler, but our focus is now one game at a time, starting with Omaha.”

The Steelhawks now set their sights on SALUTE TO HEROES NIGHT and is being presented by Cohen & Feeley Attorney’s at Law. The first 1,500 fans will receive a free Steelhawks/Cohen and Feeley drawstring backpack. Also, both parties will conduct an extended pre and in-game silent auction to benefit local military families in the Lehigh Valley. Many great items, and a local business donations will be available for fans to bid on with ALL proceeds going back to the Veterans Sanctuary and Leigh Valley Military Affairs Council.
