We remember Barry from the Philly Force days and it makes me very happy to see a local connection to the team! Hopefully one day that NY/NJ moniker can change to an LV! (A guy can wish right?)
From the @NYNJComets:
Bridgewater, NJ – May 2, 2013 – Owner/GM, Michael Neuwirth announced today that Barry Eisenberg will be the voice of the Comets beginning with the 2013 season.
Eisenberg is a veteran Announcer, Voice Over Artist and Field Reporter with more than 13 years on-air experience. He started his career in 1999 with Cablevision of NY covering local events then joined the NPF in 2004 as the voice of the NY/NJ Juggernaut. Eisenberg joined the Philadelphia Force in 2006 and was named Director of Broadcast Operations. His responsibilities included broadcasting games on the internet and hosting the team’s weekly television show on Service Electric Cable TV in the Lehigh Valley. Eisenberg formed an internet radio station called Christmas City Broadcasting Network where he currently serves as President.
“I am thrilled for the opportunity to broadcast the Comets games over the internet,” Eisenberg stated. “This will give softball fans around the world the chance to listen in as the greatest female athletes on the planet go head to head for a shot at the championship. On a personal level, I am thrilled to be back in the booth for the NPF after a 3 year hiatus. I think the Comets ownership and management are rock solid, have a forward-thinking approach, and are dedicated to winning in the largest media market on earth. I don’t think it will be too long before the Comets win their first title and I can’t wait to be there for it.”
Off the air, Eisenberg is a General Securities Principal for a regional financial services firm as well as the voice to radio and television commercials. An avid amateur baseball player, Eisenberg lives in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with his daughters Brielle and SheaLeigh.

The Pawtucket RedSox remain undefeated–against all teams not named IronPigs.
The IronPigs opened up a can of something on the PawSox this afternoon in Rhode Island to close out a 3-1 series win and a 5-2 northeastern road trip by the score 14-5. Following a lackluster game last evening, which they lost 6-1, the IronPigs opened a 5-1 lead on old “friend” Rubby De La Rosa, whom we beat up pretty good last week. Young lefty Adam Morgan plowed through the first two innings without allowing a hit, then struggled with his command a tad in the bottom of the third giving up a run on a walk, wild pitch, and two ground outs. With two outs in the bottom of the fourth, Morgan gave up a single and a double, but still no runs. By the bottom of the fifth, Morgan had thrown 100 pitches and left with a 5-1 lead. His line was 5.0IP/2H/1R/1ER/3BB/4K. He remains the IronPigs most effective starting pitcher at this juncture, and speculation has him going to Philadelphia to replace DL-listed John Lannan. However, with 100 pitches thrown today, that seems somewhat doubtful now as he’d have to pitch again on Monday in Lannan’s spot.
Mike Stutes came in to give up four earned runs on five hits–including a Big Pappi solo homer–but nevertheless earned the Blown Save/Win combination once Tyson Gillies pulled out the can opener:
An Overbeck K, then an Orr single. Susdorf walks then Lerud pops out. Two on and two out: Gillies launches one to right center on a 2-0 pitch against former IronPig Oscar Villareal.
The Pigs never looked back. They added a Lerud 2-run homer and an Overbeck Grand Slam in the ninth.
….
Buffalo scored 27 runs on Syracuse TODAY, so we’ll look forward to a 1-0 pitcher’s duel when they come to town tomorrow, no doubt! Here’s hoping the weather clears as we welcome our piggies back! Let’s get out there and make some noise!
….
Late word is that the Phillies will call up a reliever tomorrow–I’m guessing Savery–and make the rotation replacement decision before Monday. My opinion is that it may depend on the weather: If the Phillies rotation gets moved back a day, it should be Morgan.
See you at the park,
@Kram209
I turned my attention away from the radio and computer for a moment and noticed this on the TV.
Ok, I understand the need for blackouts to get fans to the Park.
It may be hard to understand for IronPig and Phillies fans as they regularly sell out but some sports teams do not sell out requiring a blackout. Of course there’s always Comcast whose strangle hold on Philly sports blacks out those who do not pay homage to them financially.
But the Bad News Bears? Not even the first one. In Breaking Training. The sequel.
The best baseball movie ending ever.

This morning my first thought was of today’s IronPig Home opener. It wasn’t what I would first eat, which old friend I would run into first, nor where I would camp myself at the game… it was “Where did I pack my thermal underwear?”
Been looking all morning and with temps forecast under 40 with steady winds.. I’m gonna need it.
By all means folks, dress warmly. Use those blankets they are giving out, wear the winter caps and gloves. If you don’t have any… I’m sure the Majestic Store will have plenty.
So for my second thought of the day, BASEBALL! OPENING DAY!
– Manager Dave Brundage’s first game as an IronPig!
– 2012 International League Pitcher of the Year Tyler Cloyd will start for the Pigs! If you remember last year (too late to jinx it now) he had a perfect game going well into his first AAA start.
– Ross Ohlendorf will make the start for Syracuse. Now THAT’s a great baseball name. (Are you picturing a Rollie Finger’s mustache too?)
– The Pigs have won their last two Ryne Sandberg inspired Opening Day games. Prior to that the team hadn’t won a home opener, even going back to 2000 with SWB and Ottawa.
That’s all I’ve got for now.. still need to find that thermal underwear. See you at the game!
OinK!

From Matt Provence, IronPig’s Media:
Phils’ Triple-A Falls, 2-1, to Pirates on Wednesday
Reliever Brendan Lafferty allowed a game-winning run to the Pirates in the final inning, as the Phillies’ Triple-A Spring Training squad fell, 3-1, on Wednesday in Bradenton.
The Pirates pitching limited the offense to just three hits while dropping the team to 1-1 overall.
CF Leandro Castro had the Phillies’ lone RBI on a double which plated OF Steve Susdorf. 2B Matt Tolbert had the only other two hits, both singles.
IronPigs LHP Tom Cochran was effective in the start (3 ip, 2 h, r, er, bb, k). RHP Brandon Erbe and RHP Austin Hyatt each tossed two scoreless innings of relieve. Erbe fanned four batters while allowing two hits and a walk in an impressive outing. RHP Hector Norris followed with a perfect inning before Lafferty finished out the game with one inning pitched.
Castro, a 2012 Eastern League All-Star, spent the entire 2012 season in Double-A Reading. He posted a stat line of .287-10-71 in 133 games and finished tied for second in the EL in doubles (35) while ranking tied for eighth in RBIs and 10th in hits (137). Following the season, the 23-year-old played for Estrellas de Oriente of the Venezuelan Winter League and batted .313-0-4 in 32 contests.
The Phillies’ Triple-A squad will have a camp day tomorrow before taking on the Blue Jays in Dunedin on Friday. First-pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
