Best Searches of the Week 4/20/2012
Trying something new this week. I occasionally get a laugh out of what our site stats pulls in for search referrals and thought I would share a few with you… for laughs, for answers, for fun.
Not in any certain order:
1. “ironpigs game watch online”
You can watch IronPig’s games online via MilB TV’s website.
They do charge a fee and home games are blacked out for live games. You can always go back and review these games at a later date as they are saved as archives.
2. “meredith marakovits”
Yes, our beloved Meredith has been strong in our search results since her appearance with the YES network. Her post here is currently the most viewed post of all time on The Horn & Bell blog.
3. “2012 triple a umpires”
Apparently we are not the only folks who research umpires…
4. “iron pigs rain policy”
There’s a link at the top of this page to explain their policy in detail.
5. “iron pigs with dogs”
This past Sunday’s dog day was my little buddy Blitzen’s first dog day. He’s filling his late brother Wally’s shoes nicely. Next dog day is a week from Sunday.
6. “phear the phro tshirts”
You can get these from Diamondwear Sports apparel. Click on the link to the right.
That’s all for this week. Stay tuned for more.

Rizzotti Traded to Twins! More Transactions 3-30-12
Per Matt Gelb (@Magelb) on Twitter:
“Matt Rizzotti was traded to Minnesota for cash considerations.”
Bummer, I like him. Good luck Matt!
***
Some transactions for today:
The White Sox Released Delwyn Young
The White Sox also received former Phillie prospect Greg Golson from the Royals for cash considerations. Might see him back at CCP this summer.
The Phillies received SS Chin-Lung Hu from the Reds for cash but reports show (Matt Gelb via Twitter) that Hu failed his physical. Adds a big question mark at shortstop for the IronPigs if Galvis starts up with the Phillies. The The Hog Blog noted that the Phillies signed Utility man Joe Thurston and I could imagine he might be our shortstop.
The Dodgers released former IronPig Cedric Bowers.
The Phillies released:
RHP Paul Cusick
RHP Rye Davis
RHP Ian Durham
RHP Juary Gomez
RHP Chase Johnson
LHP Rob Cooper
LHP Fabian Cota
LHP Jack Van Leur
1B Mike Marshall
3B Geancarlo Mendez
OF Luis Unda
A lot of transactions going on this week and expect more next week. Those last minute signings after players are released during spring training!

Empire State Yankees?
The Scranton WB Yankees will not be a part of the International League this year… Instead the Yankees AAA team will be known as the Empire State Yankees.
Knowing they will play most of their home games in NY state is does seem appropriate and also the opportunity to create and sell more team gear.

Add Horst to the Bullpen
The Phillies traded Wilson Valdez, the IronPig who almost was, for pitcher Jeremy Horst.
Horst played primarily for the Louisville Bats last season appearing in 36 games recording a 1 and 4 record to go with his 2.81 ERA. He did not start a game nor earn a save. He’s got middle relief for the Pigs written all over him.
Farewell Valdez, best of luck to you.

Transactions 1/20/2012
The Phillies have re-signed Dave Bush. Looks good to have him back with the Pigs. He pitched in 4 games for them in 2011.
Also, former IronPig Terry Tiffee signed with the Marlins.
