Today’s the Day! 4-6-10

Today is the day that Coca Cola Park opens its winter weary arms and welcomes all her Pig fans back for a great big baseball hug! This hasn’t exactly been the day we’ve waited all winter for but it certainly cuts a solid week off of the Opening Home game scheduled for April 14th.

Looking at this realisitcally, this is a bonus game. A HUGE bonus game! You will see all the higher level prospects that the Phillies organization has in one night, IN ONE GAME!

So when you say bonus, you say preview.. don’t get your hopes too high. The team was notified of this game about the same time that the public was and that pushed their preparation schedule up a week. They have already announced that the club level will be closed and I wouldn’t expect all of the concessions, usual happenings to show up tonight. They might just dust off Hambone, Diggity and Cris P. Bacon for a race but keep in mind that tonight truly is a bonus. It is a thanks to the fans of the Lehigh Valley who have supported this team and organization for the past 2 years.

This game’s for you Lehigh Valley! Enjoy!

I’m hoping I can find an All-Star (nee Primanti’s) Sandwich tonight!

You guys have no shot tonight, Reading all the way!

I’ve got to tip my cap to you guys tonight, great game, especially for an exhibition game.

Savery was shaky coming out of the gate, but put in a workman like 5 innings. You guys really got to Rosenburg, and that was basically it. Your bullpen really put down the clamp on the game.

Both teams appear to have a bright future this year!

      • Brown looked great tonight

Hey Matt, I’d have no problem watching that Reading team if the rosters somehow flipped. Nice players there. I’ve got Reading tix for 4/26–the supposed Strasburg game–it’s nice to know I’ll have plenty of hitters to cheer for. Dom Brown is the real deal.

As for the ‘Pigs? Well, right this second I’m down on Duffy, up on Wise, and way, way up on Mathieson. Otherwise, they are who I thought they were. Looking forward to next Wednesday….

      • I’ll be in Reading for the opener on the 8th. My 4 yr old nephew decided that’s where he wanted his birthday party. That’s a good kid!

Unfortunately I couldn’t clear my schedule for the game tonight so my neighbor will be using my tickets. I’ll be recording the game on tv-2 to watch later. I’m hoping the weather is this nice next Wednesday.

I did happen to pass by the ballpark on Tuesday and there were players on the field. I didn’t stop since I assumed they wouldn’t let me in to watch.

    Enjoy the game.

  4. From what I could see on TV2, the inside food stands were open, you’d know more about the Trough or the BFG. Patio obviously couldn’t be open. Out of one break the steadicam found some honey with a pretzel and brew, so they must have been available.

The 2 needs the preseason as much as the team does… for several innings the large score graphic said “EADING”.

    Great comeback by the Pigs!
