Pigs Win!

I spent most of my day at a birthday party outside of Ironpig’s Radio Network and 3G range so I didn’t find out until a friend text messaged me that the Pigs finally won a game in a series of barn burners up in Syracuse.

Hopefully their luck, and hitting, continues as they proceed on to Pawtucket to take on the Paw Sox!

So it took 4 games into the third year for the Ironpigs to finally win a game in a season opening series! Don’t look now but the Ironpigs are currently tied with the SWB Yankees. I think that’s another first. And Buffalo is 3-1.

Dice-K pitched well for Pawtucket Saturday night.

Any word on special opening ceremonies on Wednesday (besides the parachutes & flyover) and whether or not the gates will open earlier than normal?

    • I think the only way the gates will open early is if the fans push them down. I believe the bubble machines will keep them calm until the time though πŸ™‚

Buffalo had it rough last year. The Mets were mostly AAA players which brought a lot of AA slacker talent to Buffalo last year. A product of the Met’s overall health.

    • The Hobo Band will be there! One of my favorites!

  2. They won because SYR didn’t have Roger Bernadina… he got called up to the (G)Nats after hitting .400 v the Pigs…

I’m going to take credit for this win. I couldn’t wait for next week, so I decided to spend Sunday smoking a 10-lb pork butt. After eight hours and six different layers of injection/spice rub/wrapping sauce/homemade BBQ sauce, and a whole bag of lump charcoal, that thing came off the grill about the same time as Mathieson was closing down the skyChiefs.

Good karma caused by cooking a large piece of pork!

    I’m ready for Wednesday. Oink!

    • I usually just add a dry rub, wrap in plastic wrap in the fridge overnight.. then smoke with a mix of charcoal, hickory and mesquite wood. An hour a pound plus 1. Then I chop the pork and put it back into the juices from the catch pan. It’s not the healthiest but it sure tastes good! For the sauce I make a Carolina style vingegar based sauce or if I’m feeling lazy, Cattleman’s classic works.
