2/3 of All Star Valley Complete

Well… kind of.

A 3 star General once told me that even the best plans completely fall apart when the first shot is fired. Nothing could be more accurate to describe the All Star week’s events at The Coke. Pigapalooza “rained out”. (I still agree this was the best decision) Then the monsoon that swept through during tonight’s Home Run Derby. I have to give it to the fans though.. most stuck it out.

I honestly thought that Andy Tracy’s 10 home runs would stand up in the final round but I was wrong. Dan Johnson tied his 10 and sent the finals into a tie breaker round where Tracy hit none and Johnson hit one to seal the victory. It is of note that at least 3 of Tracy’s outs were inches away from getting over the wall and if just one had cleared, it would have pushed him over the top.

While most of us got soaked and the rain was constant, it was still a great fun time. The fans were really into the event and made their opinions known loudly when disapproving of an umpires judgement. A few fans reached over the wall to snag a fly and the umps made the correct call of out. The boo’s ensued and we all had a good laugh. The whole stadium, showing that they had enough of the rain and wanted to go home, gave an intense boo for the magician when he came out for his final appearance. It was all in fun though.. I hope no feelings were hurt.

Hoping the rain holds out for the game on Wednesday.. also the workout tomorrow.

OinK!

Andy did us proud!! I feel bad for all the people that put so much time and effort into these events to only have the weather screw it up for them. We stayed until the break going into the finals. Yes, I would have loved to see Andy in the finals, but I have my kids that I don’t want to catch pneumonia. Kudos to everyone who stuck it out!

  2. I think Caserta has played to tougher houses.

Has “Morris” been up Mount Fuji or some other mountain back in his homeland? Only that prepares you for what he did Monday.

I guess the move of Pretzel Burgers (down for obvious reasons Mon.) to left field is permanent. Understandable…

It’s bad when even Jimmy T (we’re in his section) has to take cover under the stands…:?

    Woo Hoo!

Achillies did everyone very proud and represented just fine, indeed.

Johnson is a bona-fide HR hitter, no shame there.

Second place is very honorable for the IronPigs great Hero of Heroes.

    Well done Fighter!

Just had to add that I thought the Silver Bird Steel Drum Band was excellent. I’d welcome them back anytime.

I was pleasantly surprised to turn on the tv when I got home last night and discover that Service Electric TV2 was showing a replay of the homerun derby. It was fun to watch it again after seeing it live.
The interview Matt Provence did with Dan Johnson in the 1st round of the contest was priceless as Matt mentioned what it would be like for Dan to be hitting balls into the Bud Light Trough on a regular basis. Let the 2011 recruiting season begin!
