While Cody Ransom was designated for assignment yesterday he could be claimed by another team, he could clear waivers and accept an assignment and return to the Ironpigs or he could refuse his assignment and become a free agent.
I don’t think Ransom will return to the Ironpigs. Just call it a gut feeling.. I don’t think Ransom enjoyed anything during his time here. His interactions with the fans, or lack thereof… the way he kept to himself in the dugout and seemed to be lonely in his play on the field…
It wasn’t a match made in heaven.
I’ve heard many insults sent his way.. over his play, over his attitude. I don’t think he’s a bad guy. I just don’t think he will return.
We’ll see…

Cody Ransom is a border line Major League player who can still be relatively successful at AAA and also help out a Major League club in a supporting role . If he can keep his timing with few at bats he might succeed as a Major League bench player but if he needs to play every day to stay sharp he will probably end up on any organization’s AAA team just as he has recently for both the Phillies and Yankees. At 34 he is likely near the end of his playing career and only he knows how long he wants to keep chasing his current personal goals. Under these type of circumstances it has to be a very tough choice what to do unless he is more comfortable with the Phillies than it might outwardly appear. Only he can know both his own thoughts and what the Phillies organization might be telling (and paying) him.
The Renegade, CODY RANSOM

I think he would accept an assignment. I could see the Phils bringing him back up in Sept as a bench bat.
