I know I haven’t posted anything lately.. reason is, the Pig’s season is over.
Transactions won’t start impacting us until the end of the MLB season.
The biggest news is Kurt Landes being chosen for a second year in a row as the league’s top executive. Also, noticed some new items in the online clubhouse store.
Not too much else going on. If you hear anything good.. leave a comment.
OinK!

I was at the Phillies-Nationals game in DC last night. It was a mini-Pigs game as Domonic Brown and Greg Dobbs started. Bocock, Hoover, Mayberry and Bastardo also got in the game. I’m not sure if 2010 Phils rehabbing in LV count but Schneider, Baez and Romero also played.
Shane Victorino also pinch hit in that game and he rehabbed with the Ironpigs August 10-11.
Nice article at mlb.com about 2 days ago regarding Joe Savery. It said he has been working out at first base in the Florida Instructional League.

So he’s working out at first base. Hmmmm……makes you wonder.
This is the best time of the year to see all the Pigs up there. Good times!
Yeah, it’s not like the Phillies don’t have enough minor league first basemen. I’d hope Savery doesn’t affect their decision making for 2011. If Savery is going to try playing first I think it would be wise start him at a lower minor league level where he has a greater chance to succeed.
Another story I heard out of the Florida Instructional League is that Jeremy Slayden has come out of retirement to try to make a comeback with the Phillies. Slayden struggled with the Ironpigs in 2009 and was sent down to Reading where he eventually called it a career around the time Domonic Brown was promoted from Clearwater to Reading.
Nice about Slayden. Don’t tell Laura! lmao I thought the rumors were he got bumped to Reading b/c Huppert and him didn’t get along. I wonder if any of that was true and if it was, if Huppert leaving was a reason he decided to come out of retirement.
I think Slayden got tired of selling insurance.. or whatever he was doing.
The report I read at the time, from Jay Ballz at FoulBallz, I believe, of Slayden’s “retirement” stated the player was going back to college…
…perhaps he flunked out. Or couldn’t get along with a professor.
