Phillies Sign Kevin Frandsen to Minor League Contract

Per Major League Trade Rumors, the Phillies have signed infielder Kevin Frandsen to a minor league contract and will assign him to play with our Ironpigs.

Frandsen, 28, was drafted in the 12th round of the 2004 draft by the Giants. He has played in portions of the Major League seasons between 2006 and 2010 with the Giants and last year with the Dodgers. He also has experience at every position except Catcher/Pitcher.

Guess we know another for the 2011 Ironpig roster!

OinK!

OK, so anyone who had “Frandsen” in the roster pool wins… πŸ™‚

  2. Sounds like an insurance policy to me. What happens at shortstop if Bocock starts the year on the DL and Pete Orr makes the Phillies? What happens at second base if Barfield opts out?

  3. Nice gesture by the Phillies on Monday allowing Nate Bump to start against the Astros. 5 innings, 8 hits (7 of them singles) and just 1 run. He was the winning pitcher.

  4. Matt Rizzotti removed from Phillies 40 man roster and outrighted to minors. Doesn’t that mean he had to clear waivers?

Supposedly, he did clear waivers. Pretty quickly and quietly, I’d say. Much speculation that this spot is now open for Stutes…
