IronPig Game Results 6/13/11 – Dog Day Photos!

The IronPigs lost a heartbreaker to the Bats tonight by a final score of 7 to 8. The Pigs took an early lead and were up 5 to 3 before Perez came in and quickly allowed Louisville to plate 4 runs. The Bats added one in the 9th for insurance and it proved to assist as the Pigs scored two in the bottom of that inning to fall 1 run short.

Erik Kratz had another great night both at the plate and behind the plate. Erik went 3 for 3 with two walks (one intentional) and 3 RBI. Kratz also made a great play at home blocking the plate and tagging out the runner with a slightly late throw.

So that’s that. Tomorrow is the final game in the 4 game set in Louisville’s only appearance at The Coke this season. Hope to pull out a series win and keep that win column growing!

Today was also Dog Day at the park! There was a reported 455 dogs in attendance and my dog Wally was one of them. Some photos from today:

  1. Love the pit bull wearing shades. That’s a patient dog. What was the call that set Ryno off?

  2. The Pigs had a double play lined up and the runner went into 2nd standing forcing the shortstop to throw high and into the dugout. Should have been called out for interference.

My would-be ride never materialized, and I never heard from Heidi to see if she ever went with her woof-woofs.

I still hope to meet Wally… eventually. Ever introduce him to that deli guy with the same name? I might go see him soon… but prob. not this weekend, they’re calling for major rain.

  4. Well, the bullpen gacked one up. It was bound to happen eventually, and I figured it would be Perez. He started the season doing really well, but hasn’t looked sharp lately.

I was listening on the radio as a make-up Little League game left my seats unused. After hearing the crowd’s reaction to Sandberg’s ejection, I have no doubt that this area will be able to support hockey–no matter where the arena is built. 🙂

I’ll miss tonight’s game for another kiddo game. Lost to this team before 38-0 (gotta get four innings before the mercy kicks in. Their stacked team was still stealing bases up by 30…)

MyCapture has shots of a table with players autographing the bandanas. One might have been Bozied…

Anyone notice that due to the lack of a Phillies game Monday night, the Hooters Snow Angels were showing on the Comcast station? Not really apprpriate for a family ballpark, but I’m sure it wasn’t intentional – the tv’s are probably set to that station for the Phillies games. Some people seemed a bit uncomfortable with it. Some with wives/girlfriends with them tried not to watch.
