Pigs lost 0-2 tonight to the Indians. A sleeper of a game and just a few great catches from the Indians outfield kept me from falling asleep.
Tomorrow is another day.

Anybody else is Mike LoRe’s tweet: “IronPigs are an anemic 3-for-43 with runners in scoring position in last 7G including tonight. That needs to change ASAP.”
Another one – is this one a coincidence ? from Mike LoRe: “Anyone notice that ever since Ronnie Belliard retired the #IronPigs can’t hit? ”
Ever since Gordon and Belliard left the team, the Pigs haven’t been hitting very well.
Dean, it is not uncommon for there to be a domino effect in the minors when multiple player personnel changes are made.
1. Brian Gordon, Ronnie Belliard, Vance Worley leave the Ironpigs and the team slumps.
2. Justin De Fratus, Phillippe Aumont and Cody Overbeck are promoted from AA to AAA to replace the players in #1 and Reading is currently on a 6 game losing streak,
3. Justin Friend, Derrick Loop and Joe Savery are promoted from high class A to AA and Clearwater hasn’t won a game since June 14. With an allstar break slipped in there the Threshers losing streak is currently at 4.
The good news is that most of the time the slumps are short lived until all the new players settle into their new environment.
Even more interesting, milb.com currently lists the Wednesday starting pitcher for the Ironpigs as Jason Grilli. Is that legit?
Good question, Decal. On Monday night, Rudy Owens was named Tuesday night’s pitcher. When I woke up the next morning, it was TBD.
Could Wednesday be another bullpen day ? We did lose two starters – Gordon and Worley.
Well, this is supposed to be Edell’s spot in the order, according to the game notes. Current rotation is supposed to be:
Bass-Edell-Feierabend-Matheison-Redding
Perhaps Edell’s arm hurts or something. Grilli’s a vet who can handle it, but he’s certainly not stretched out whatsoever with the recent DL stint and all. Hoo.
I think I’ll be coming over to the game late tonight after our Little League team gets kicked by Parkland.
As of 3.17 PM east, it is! 🙂
I wish there was a sarcasm font on Twitter. The RISP numbers are true and obviously a reflection of the team’s recent struggles. The Belliard tweet was definitely a joke. He was hitting like .230 and was a lazy fielder. Lehigh Valley is better off without him.
I’ve always wanted to create my own font.. 🙂
