IronPig Game Results 6/24/11 – Not Again…

The Pigs lost again tonight by a final score of 4 to 5. Charlotte took an early lead in the first combining a single, walk and throwing error to create a run. The error did not cause the run, but it gave it a bad taste so early.

The Knights held a 3-2 lead into the 9th but added two more when Justing DeFratus allowed 2 hits and walked 2 allowing 2 runs to score. This was big as Jeff Larish hit a monster home run into the centerfield lawn and brought the Pigs within two.

The game of baseball is an interesting one. You can hit the ball weakly and score and hit the ball hard and be out. Recently the Pigs have been poster children for the latter. The ball just hasn’t fallen their way this past week or so. It will turn around, even the best teams have slumps and that’s what this is. Losing 4 games in a row they look to get back in the win column tomorrow.

OinK!

    It wasn’t the hitting…

    They did better tonight.

It was terrible decision (again) of pitchers to use. Redding was awful 3 games ago when he first appeared with the Ironpigs and so wasn’t DeFratus and they performed the same tonight. Who is making these pitching decisions?

Grilli, Carpenter or Zagutski should have been in before DeFretus. Getting really frustrated with these kind of pitching decisions.

The obvious Major League talent has been promoted and now the border line Major League talent is being promoted because of injuries on the MLB Phillies. That is what AAA is all about. We had great half season and now we have to hope some of the former R-Phils can rise to the occasion. I’m not giving up yet because Sandburg is still playing an aggressive style on the bases and he knows how to win. OINK!!!

Has anyone else noticed that the IronPigs now have a feed where fans can watch the games live online ? You can now watch home games if you cannot make it.

    • That. Is. Awesome. (Ron says: “Now Emily won’t get anything done the rest of the summer.”)

Where is this link? I don’t see anything on the Ironpigs website. I know they were like the only AAA affiliate holding out on sharing their feed with milb.com.

Matt – the link was there yesterday before the game. I just looked at the Milb.com scoreboard, and the video camera link isn’t there anymore.

Its not there for Sunday’s game either.

    Tonight’s expected starting pitchers:

    Knights: Joe Bisenius (former IronPig)
IronPigs: Tyson Brummett (just promoted from Reading)
Juan Sosa sent back to Lakewood.

  5. Thanks for all the fun at the ballpark this week. A win or two (or, failing that, maybe a good Piniella-in-his-heyday-style ejection) would have been nice, but I’m happy with new friends, good laughs, a stack of baseball cards, and a chance to photograph one of the most glorious creatures God ever set on this earth. Throw in that pretty catch Larish made tonight, a box of rivets, and a few new signatures on the hippie wagon, and … well, I can’t complain. šŸ™‚
