IronPig Game Results 7/10/11 – Richie Hustle!

Rich Thompson had another great day at the plate today going 3 for 5 with one run scored leading the IronPigs to a 5 to 2 victory over the Syracuse Cheifs. Thompson also turned a 9th inning infield error into a 3 base effort!

Young, Kratz and Bozied all had multi-hit games including a triple by Bozied.

For the Pitching staff, Brummett went 5 innings allowing 1 run on 4 hits earning his first AAA win. Edell, Walrond and Grilli each added an inning with DeFratus coming on to close out the game, allowing 1 run in the 9th.

Watching the Phillies/Braves game this afternoon was quite a treat for this IronPig fan.

Domonic Brown went 3 for 5 with 2 RBI and 2 Runs scored and John Mayberry was 3 for 5 with 3 doubles and 4 RBI.

Great to see our IronPigs helping out the Phillies. It does, however, bring doubt to my thoughts of if/when Mayberry or Brown ever come back down to the Lehigh Valley. I haven’t heard anything on how long Victorino will be out but if these guys are producing I couldn’t imagine them being sent down in favor of an aging Ibanez or Fransisco. I believe that Brown’s speed will be a key factor in that decision and we will see.

Brown and Mayberry should both stay, they can do more. Francisco(.230) or Martinez(.229) should be optioned. And Kratz should be brought up and Schneider(.164?) sent down or released. You don’t keep someone because is a local product or because of a contract. The idea is to make the team better. What worries me is the Phils are going to panic and trade some good young arms, such as Schwimer, who also should be in Philly…

  2. I’m more concerned about all the IronPigs pitchers sitting on the Phillies’ bench, not getting any work and not helping us out on our playoff run either. I know, I know, the Phillies are the priority. But they finally have a winning team here and they owe it to the fans to make sure the ‘Pigs keep winning. That’s not going to be easy with our best pitchers sitting on a bench night after night.
