If you hadn’t heard, Scott Mathieson will be returning to the IronPigs after the All Star break. Also, Joe Savery will be returning to the Pigs after his “transition” to a position player. (Read this first via @PhuturePhilz on Twitter)
Between Reading and Clearwater, Savery is hitting .292 with 12 doubles, 3 triples and 3 home runs along with 31 RBI. Savory also made 6 relief appearances allowing 8 hits and 1 run over 10 innings. He struck out 12 and walked none.
Word on the street is that Savery will enter the IronPigs (currently) depleted bullpen. With the success that IronPigs have had in the Philly pen we might not see some of them back. Of course this also give manager Ryne Sandberg an extra bat on the bench and we all remember those stories of Savery going 2 for 5 and lowering his batting average to under .500 earlier this season.
Might be an extra boost for the team and very happy to have both Savery and Mathieson back on the roster.

Savery…..can’t wait to see him back with the Pigs. I was hoping Scott could get some more time in Philly, but of course, we will welcome him back with open arms!!
Looks like Suomi will be back with the Ironpigs for the Thursday doubleheader just in case Kratz doesn’t get back from Salt Lake City in time.
Frandsen is 4-10 with Clearwater so I’d think he’ll be back with the Ironpigs soon. Should be interesting to see what they do with him when he returns.
