The Pigs came out fighting tonight in Syracuse pounding out a quick 5 runs with doubles from Thompson, Frandsen and home runs from Kratz and Bozied. Their next score came on a 3 run HR by Overbeck in the 5th. Although most of their runs came from the long ball tonight, the Pigs totaled 11 hits for the evening. Unfortunately, they also had 2 errors in the line score (Bozied, Young) that accounted for 2 unearned runs for the Chiefs.
Ryan Feierabend earned his 9th win of the season going 6 innings allowing 6 hits and 4 runs (3 earned). Walrond and DeFratus took care of the 7th and 8th while Michael Schwimer earned his 8th save of the season.
Pigs win by a score of 8 to 6.

I read a Twitter post earlier and can’t find it now (Insert my poor memory here) so credit to that forgotten author for the concept, but the results are anything but a secret. Looking at some of these younger players coming around for the IronPigs and the success that Pigs are having up with the Phillies. A calmer, cooler and more relaxed John Mayberry making an impact for the Phillies as well as Stutes and Worley are a clear indicator of talent well groomed.
There was a term I learned a while back. “Force Multiplier” I had no idea what it meant and when I found out what it meant, I whole heartedly agreed. It is someone whose mere presence causes others to work harder, try harder and perform beyond their usual abilities. Basically, multiplying the abilities of others just by influencing them.
The impact that Ryne Sandberg has had on the Phillies organization is clearly being seen with the effort of both the Pigs here and the Pigs on the Phillies lineup. It’s also no secret that Sandberg wants a major league job. It’s my gut feeling that he wants it soon. Not saying anything against Charlie Manuel… so save those angry comments for the next bobblehead day, but I think that the Phillies as a whole need to retain him. That’s all I’m saying. Feel free to share your own feelings/opinions/thoughts.

On another note, I was able to get out to the Lehigh Valley Roller Girls bout tonight in Schnecksville. They absolutely pounded the other team tonight, both by score and by sheer brute force. It got pretty rough there at times and I really enjoyed myself. Sadly, they didn’t have a t-shirt in my size or I would have bought one. (Sorry, the pink tank top just wasn’t going to make it into my jersey rotation). For more details about the Roller Girls check out our friends over at The Corner Seat.
That’s all I got for tonight. OinK!

I think you’re talking about Ricky Bo’s tweet, “John mayberry…huge improvement….vance worley..huge improvement…time to acknowledge iron pigs coaching staff…..they learned.”
Tend to agree with you on Sandberg. I read an article the other day (one of the ESPN sites I think) saying that he wants a MLB job very, very soon and would even go back to Chicago for it. Phils can’t get rid of Uncle Chuck so I’m not sure what they can do to keep him here.
He was speaking with ESPN AM1000 in Chicago, which like most sports-talk stations, expects you to say slam-bang-out-of-the-park stuff whether it’s really true or not, so they won’t call you a wimp.

That would be it. Thanks Matt!!
I love y’all, but you know all I want for Christmas is to see Ryno back in a Cubs uniform. If Ricketts didn’t pick up the phone as soon as he heard that interview, he’s an even bigger idiot than I think he is. (I still cannot believe the Cubs have Ivan friggin’ DeJesus coaching third base. To quote Billy Crystal’s character in The Princess Bride: “While you’re at it, why don’t you give me a nice paper cut and pour lemon juice in it?”)
