IronPig Game Results 7/22/11 – Hot & Cold

Hot was the weather and the Columbus Clippers bats.

Cold was the IronPigs bats. That’s not all there was to the game tonight. The Pigs hit the ball hard and often but as Hall of Famer Wee Willy Keeler (Any relation Tim/Ron?) would say, “Hit ’em where they ain’t” and the Pigs didn’t. Many good hit balls came in the form of outs to great defense from the Clippers.

Pigs lose to Columbus by a final of 3 to 6.

It was hot out there today. Many thanks to the IronPigs for allowing water bottles to come into the park today. I honestly feel this should be standard all season long, but who am I and what do my opinions matter. They run a business and if they want to sell a basic human need, more power to them. Maybe they could market an IronPig’s water bottle, refillable at no charge at the Park? I always wondered why coin operated toilets haven’t been installed yet. (Not joking around, I remember seeing these at the Jersey shore as a kid)

Anyways, fun time had by most. Tomorrow will be another hot one so be prepared!

OinK!

  1. Coin operated toilets? There’d be a lot of peeing on the Capital Blue Cross lawn if that happened.

  2. How about handing out a bottle of water to each fan entering the gates on days 90 degrees and above? And discount additional bottles of water to $1.00 .

I agree with what you say, The Corner Seat. I am very disappointed in Coca Cola. While it would have been good for the fans, Coca Cola could have stepped up and donated a water, it would have looked good for them from a marketing standpoint. It always goes back to NO ONE REALLY CARES about the fans…

Last night they nearly lost their “#1 Fan” as I succumbed to the heat. Rest assured I’m bringing water to the park tonight as I don’t want a repeat of last night! And yes, they should have at least handed out bottles of water like The Corner Seat suggested. I’m falling into that catagory of NO ONE REALLY CARES about the fans attitude. All about the all mighty dollar. Someday this may blow up in their faces!! Sorry for the harsh words but it’s time to let my feeling come out a little.

    Oink Oink

  5. I am also concerned for their outside staff. I hope they are providing coolers with water to the parking lot guys and ushers. Every year when we are in a heat wave I hear about an usher or two going down. A wet neck towel can only provide so much cooling.

Personally, I think on these hellishly hot days they should tell they parking lot guys to stay home. Is $3 a car really worth putting someone’s health on the line?

That’s so true. Those guys are standing there in all kinds of weather, hot, cold, rainy, you name it all in the name of the all mighty dollar. $3.00 is def. not worth risking someone’s health and would it kill them to forget about charging people to park on those hellish nights??? They should be happy the fans are willing to come out in these conditions to support the team!! Give us a break!!

No need to apologize Jimmy T. This is America, you have a right to say it. If the powers that be don’t like it, too bad. Strange, the article today talks about filling seats, but some of the best front row seats around home plate are held for employee family members. Those seats are emtpy a lot and as a side note, when those families do come, they are some of the rudest, most drunk fansin the stadium.

Thanks man, I only wish they’d listen to the fans especially the season ticket holders. We’re trying to let em know that it’s not all sunshine and rainbows but I get the feeling they don’t want to hear it.

They are not as smart as they think. Dan’s suggestion, and others, about ticket exchange was great. A lot of empty seats last night. If they had a true exchange, more seats could have been filled. Yes, either way they have their money. But parking, concessions? Could always make more. And the seats reserved for family and scouts, same thing, sell those seats, get money for seat, parking, and concession.

“Many thanks to the IronPigs for allowing water bottles to come into the park today. ”

Bring a bookbag of some type and stuff it with with a buffet of food and drinks.

In four seasons and 150+ games I have never been stopped once for an inspection.

    • Ha! That brings back a memory from 2008. This couple actually brought in a real picnic basket. They had about 10 containers with a full meal inside including silverwear. Stood out by the trough and ate.

The next night I did bring a thermal bag filled with bottles of water, and kudos to the IronPigs for allowing it. I don’t want to make it sound like it’s all bad.
