IronPig Game Results 7/28/11 – Update to Yard Sale Line Up

The Pigs lost a tough one to Pawtucket this afternoon by a final score of 1 to 2. A long fly ball by Tagg Bozied could have won it but came about 5 feet short of clearing the wall. Tomorrow they face the PawSox for the final game of this 4 game series.

FRANDSEN?-I know there is still a whole month left. I also know your average can go up or down quickly until you get a lot of at bats. BUT, 4-34, dropping your average from .339 to .290, 49 points in 10 games? That is Kevin Frandsen. You can’t help but wonder what was going on those first couple of months. And the anger today? Clearly strike 3 and he starts arguing and then he pops out and slams the bat hard. Sorry, but he has no one to blame but himself when people start raising questions….

2 great plays at shortstop today by Frandsen, even getting a high five from Polanco on one of them. He also laid down a nice bunt in the 7th inning moving runners to 2nd and 3rd with just 1 out when the score was still 1-1. Unfortunately, Sardinha and Thompson couldn’t get either of them home. I see no big deal about the strikeout which came in the 2nd inning with 2 outs and nobody on base and the popout you’re referring to could only be the fly to center in the 9th inning with the tying run on base. When you’re playing in a crucial game I’d be disappointed if he WASN’T upset about that. Absolutely no question in my mind about the play of Kevin Frandsen.

Those two balls are plays Bocock does not have to dive for. The bunt was an excuse me bunt, the players were laughing about it in the dugout. It was not striking out that is the problem. The ball was right down the middle and he was arguing. Baseball bans certain substances because one of the side effects is rage. There will always be questions because of what HE DID. Still surprised the Phils kept him when they realeased the other guy. Hate to bring up the race thing here, guess I just did…

In attendance: Dallas Green was there today. With Mathieson pitching today, does make you wonder if he and Schwimmer are being discussed in trade talks. Also, sitting right in front of me the last few innings was Tony Pena, the Dad that is….

Dan, I have a Dominic Brown Bobblehead that I can donate to the cause. I don’t see one listed. Have someone stop by my table and pick it up Sunday. And, as long as there is enough room, I’ll probably be showing how to throw boomerangs!
