After such a good start to the 10 game homestand it’s disappointing to finish with 4 straight losses and going just 5-5. It would have been a nice opportunity to distance ourselves from Pawtucket and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre who both lost again today. Long roadtrip begins Monday. It’s time to step it up a notch.

If only Tagg Bozied have could directed some of his well hit drives to some other location than the deepest part of center field, a couple of the losses that I saw might have had different results. That comment is not meant as any criticism of Bozied who was not the only factor in the games but to me only indicates how close the difference between memorable hits and outs can be. Over all I would rather start August in first place with a slim lead than having to catch someone ahead of me. The 2011 team has already proven to be very competitive. Now we shall see if they are good enough to close the deal.

    • One thing I keep thinking about is that we aren’t the only team worried about MLB impact on the late season rosters. With the Red Sox (Pawtucket), Indians (Columbus), and Atlanta (Gwinnett) in the MLB playoff race.. their AAA lineups could be impacted. Conversely, teams whose MLB affiliate that are fire saling could stock their lineups and become a better team to play spoiler in the end.

Yes, not only step up a notch, but time to “settle in” to an everyday lineup. To me, outfield is Brown, Thompson, Moss.
If DH is needed, it is Young. 3B is Orr, SS could be Bocock or Frandsen(Bocock better for D, Frandsen a little better, not much anymore, offensively), 2B is Barfield, I like Bozied with his power more than Overbeck at 1B, C is Kratz. Pigs start August in first place. Who would have thought that before the year began?
