IronPig Game Results 8/10/11 – Pig Wars

Sometimes the big angry pig gets you, sometimes you get the big angry pig.

As the Pigs came into the 9th tied 4-4 with the Norfolk Tide they were able to load the bases on a play very similiar to last night. With a runner on second a ball on the ground and the infielder tossed to 3rd but late. No runs tonight though and Justin Defratus walked the leadoff batter, threw a sac bunt throw into right field and then intentionally walked the bases loaded with no outs. Ryne Sandberg then pulled Orr in as a 5th infielder. Home plate umpire Hamari was giving DeFratus no help tonight with a couple close pitches being called balls. On a 3-2 count the game winning hit was allowed and the Pigs lost.

While the Pigs lost tonight, SWB and Pawtucket lost as well. No change to the standings.

    I compiled this stat:
On this road trip (10 games so far, @ SWB, @ Durham, Norfolk), IronPigs are 20-85 (.190) RISP, 71 LOB. 5 wins, 5 losses on this road trip.

At one point in this game, Chris George had retired 14 straight IronPigs before Kratz hit a double in the top of the 7th inning.

If its correct, we’re lucky to be winning games.

Feierabend vs. Matusz at 12:15PM on Thursday !

  3. it’s closer to $500,000. Foreigners usually get from mid-six figures to low 7-figures in Korea and Taiwan

  5. It’s hard to win games when your best pitchers are sitting on the bench in Philadelphia or were allowed to leave for other teams (one without even getting anything in return!), We used to win 1-run games; now we lose them. We also rarely used to lose by large margins; now it’s commonplace. I’m beginning to wonder why they printed the playoff tickets!

    • We both know the answer to that question Jim… 6 games times 10,000 tickets, min. $6 each… 60,000 times $6 = $360,000 + of guaranteed ticket sales for next year if the Pigs don’t play. Interest will accumulate all winter long as well. They think and act like a business.
